Can I ask for amore aggressive treatment?

I know everyone has different dx, but can I request a more aggressive treatment or is this based on your RE's discretion.
I have taken Clomid 5x now, first 4 were 50mg and last one was 100mg. I never produced more than 2 'good' sized follies, and the last one I only had 1. This would be my last IUI before IVF, and I would like to do as much as possible to help our chances this cycle. Thanks ladies for the support and help, don't know what I woud do without you all.

perhaps clomid isnt for you? have you tried other stims????

do you have coverage for more iui's before ivf if you change protocol????


imo...i would want to exhaust stims...ie gonal...etc...before ivf.

i have DONE ivf now doing iuis but with hardcore stims bc i am a sucky responder.

i never did clomid bc i heard things about lining and it was just a reg obgyn who wanted to clomid me.

i dont think you are wrong at all for wanting to try something different before the next step!!!!!

I would definitely tell my Dr that I want to be more aggressive and exhaust all options before moving into IVF. If there's one thing that I have learned throughout my IF journey is to be on top of things and question everything. Unfortunately I've made many mistakes before I got there but at least now I learned my lesson... An injectacle could be all that you need. Why go through an IVF cycle if it's not necessary. Hopefully your RE is open for discussion.

If you only get 2 with 50 I would think you could try 100mg..

Do you have to do a bunch of IUIs before your insurance will let you do IVF?

you can def ask to be more aggressive. i completely agree with the PP that you dont need to jump to IVF from clomid IUIs. you can def do several injectable cycle IUIs first. there's no reason to jump into IVF. i did one clomid cycle (anovulatory), and 6 injectable cycles (2 were chemical PGs) before I finally moved on to IVF. and we only moved on because I have PCOS and am an erratic stimmer and easily hyperstimulate, so IVF was safer for me.

Thanks for the reply ladies. To answer some of the questions and give a little more info.

1st. I have already done 2 medicated IUI's and my insurance only covers 3.

2nd. My insurance covers 2 IVF cycles, but requires that I have 3 medicated cycles first.

Could a more aggressive protocal be done over the phone? I am 'supposed' to get AF sometime this weekend and would hate to have to schedule a seperate consult and miss this month.

I would do the injectables....Dr b asked us how aggressive we wanted to be the second round...we did femara and follistim....and we are having twins!
