Am I totally crazy?
So, I am totally not trying to judge anyones IF journey.. but I have a friend who is going through the process also.. she doesn't know that I am.. but she shares with me.
When the dr prescribes her meds (such as shots she dials up extra) she takes more than prescribed.. because she said she's trying to "up her chances". Also she's on Crinone 1x a day but she does 2-3 a day because she says "the more progesterone the better".
Is this totally weird or do many people not follow the dr's orders completely?
Just wondering..

I hope I'm not alone in thinking this. .. but I think that's totally NUTS!
First of all, by taking more injections, she is putting herself in BIG danger of hyperstimming!! Also with the increased progesterone ... I have no idea what that can actually do to your body but with the side effects I get from juts ONE Crinone, I don't want to imagine what it would be like to use multiple ones, especially if they aren't necessary!
I follow my dr's orders VERY carefully!! This sounds pretty crazy to me!!

wouldn't she run out of meds early and the dr realize that something is wrong?? 
i didn't go through this process, but i do find what she's doing to be crazy. i'd listen to the dr's prescribed dosage. if I were you, I would do research on what taking extra can do and give her the info on it. I've done medical research for friends before when they were having an issue and presented it in a way that they thanked me for it.
ps - hormones are def not something I would ever want to mess around with and do things that could potentially be dangerous and risk messing something up for myself in a serious way.

dont knwo how long she has been doing this or what her dx is....
but i would NEVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
f around with these meds.
lets say she DOES get pg......what is she doing to her insides that the doc doesnt know about/
and yes ohss or oshs...cant spell....
and what i have learned is more is not always better...its timing etc.
so sad that your friend thinks this is okay..but i wouldnt be suprised if alot of people secretly do this.

Oh no, that's crazy. It would be like someone taking two BC pills a night instead of one to be "extra protected." It doesn't work like that!

Thanks girls, when I mentioned it to DH he said "Well you know she's kinda crazy" and just brushed it off.. but I was thinking that this could be super dangerous.
When she told me about it I think I had a shocked look on my face because she said "Oh you're so dramatic" but I was actually worried that she would be hurting herself!!
Thanks for confirming that I'm not insane!

there is a reason the doctor prescribes a certain amount of medicine. The doctor went to med school, not her.
Also, she is nuts if she thinks her doctor is not doing everything he/she can to make it work. Upping doses won't guarantee anything but could cause other health issues.
She's playing with fire.

that is really not good. i wont lie and say i dont understand where she is coming from. i too was occaissionally tempted to dial up an extra iu or two on my follistim pen. however when i REALLY felt like i was going to do that, i called the doctor and got his approval first!!
she can easily hyperstimulate herself with this method and she will end up not being able to finish the cycle and having to wait a month to let her ovaries calm down. its really a bad idea to up stims without doctor approval!!
as for progesterone, its not unsafe, but prob just a waste. if we needed 2-3 a day, thats what all RE's would prescribe!! IMO she needs to stop playing doctor to herself and find one whose protocol she really trusts!

So I spoke to her today and mentioned that I had googled some stuff and found out about OHSS and that it could happen to her.. she told me that I'm so crazy and I have to relax.. I told her that I was really concerned and that she should speak to her doctor if she didn't think that the treatment was aggressive enough.. hopefully she will listen!!!!

im sorry your friend is doing this.. but that's just insane
that's like taking double the amount of antibiotics or medicine to speed up your recovery from an illness. Drugs don't work like that..they're given at certain doses and timed a certain way by TRAINED PROFESSIONALS. Taking her treatment into her own hands like that is completely irresponsible.
What if she gets pregnant and loses the baby due to her own negligence??? how stupid will she feel then? (not saying that will happen since i'm obviously not a dr)
Sorry if that sounds harsh but she's playing with fire IMO

I think your friend is really crazy for playing around with her meds. She could really harm herself or her child if she gets PG. As it is, there is so little known about the long term effects of these meds that I'm not thrilled with taking them to begin with. I would never take more than what is prescribed by my doctor!

I do not even think you're being harsh.. I think it's realistically what can happen. This is why I really was worried about her!
