Party menu review!

So, we had the party this weekend and the food went over really well.

Not sure if people do this on this board but I really wanted to thank people for all the help and suggestions!

Thank you all for your ideas! I had a list of about 10 menu items for the party but I didn't get to do them all due to a time crunch:

1-Baked ziti-easy to make ahead and heat up the day of. Was picked at, but lots of left overs.

2-Tray of Chicken Francese-Super easy, thank you Rojerno for the idea. Found a recipe where I could back after sauteing so I didn't have to man a stove while everyone was here. Basically, reverse dredge Chicken (flour then egg) and saute in oil to brown on both sides. Layer in a casserole. Simmer wine, lemon juice butter in pot then pour over chicken. Bake at 300 until cooked through. This chicken was soooo tender and delicious. I will make this a new party staple for sure-went over really well.

3-Sausage balls-really easy. Mix bulk hot sausage, Cheddar cheese, bisquick and miracle whip and roll into balls. Bake at 375 fot 18 minutes. These went over very well.

4-Fried ravioli-thaw package of frozen ravioli. Dip each ravioli in egg and then bread crumbs, saute in oil for about 10 minutes (flipping half way). I made them ahead and reheated them in a casserole with marinara sauce. These were all gone, definitely got the most compliments on this.

5/6 two dips served with tostitos and pretzels. I bought the dips spices at a gift shop when we visited the Biltmore Estate here in NC. You just mix each on with mayo and sour cream and chill for a couple of hours. Very tasty.

7-BBQ meatballs-like the baked ziti I make these at every party I have because they are just too easy not to. 1 large package of frozen meatballs from BJs. 2-3 large bottles of BBQ sauce (or other sauce). I throw them in a crock pot on low about 6 hours before the party and they are ready. These usually go over very well.

8-Meat and Cheese platter with crackers and flat bread. Again, thank you Rojerno-this went over well.

9-tomato/mozzarella with bread. I wanted to make bruschetta but ran out of time so I chopped up some fresh mozzarella and tomatoes. mixed them together and served with b read. it was fine, I ate most of it myself thoughChat Icon

10-bread/rolls-nothing more to say

11-dessert-we pick up individual desserts from a bakery and cut them up in to bite sizes so the would look pretty on a platter and people could try a few different ones. Got lots of compliments on this and I did nothing but cut them up-easy breezy

The two things I planned on but just did not get to:
1-Tostados-I had browned the meat the day before but I still had to scoop the meet onto the chips, top with cheese, bake for 15 minutes and then top with salsa and sour cream and plate. I just ran out of time.
2-Endive with gargonzola and walnuts. Just didn't happen. I had all the stuff but it was a new recipe and I just didn't get to make it.

For drinks we had beer, wine, grape and chocolate vodka, sodas, and pitchers of what was supposed to be Christmas mudslides but ended up being regular mudslides because DH bought kalhaha already mixed instead of the straight stuff.

Had a little bit of stress (okay, a lot) before the party as I was prepping all the food. I should have done more the day before, so many of these things are really make ahead so next time I know.

I was caked in flour and egg with my hair in curlers at 6:30-party was to start at 7:30Chat Icon

Had a small fire at 5:30 when a cork trivet got stuck to the bottom of the pan I was using to fry the ravioli. I look at my stove and see smoke and a small fire-pulled the whole pan off the stove and run outside onto the patio with it. At that time I decide to stop cooking. I'm done-had DH pour me a cocktail and I start cleaning up the kitchen and light candles/open windows to air outChat Icon Chat Icon

It was a good time, but I am so glad it's overChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
