I have a $50 gift card to amazon/borders for filling out a servey. I have many books in my personal collection and in my classroom (kindergarten) and I am looking for the lesser known books that you love. OK- list any book that you love for your child. If I have it already, I won't order it.

Thanks!

Best Books of 25 Years: Infant - 9 Years

Source: Parents' Choice Foundation

In researching this exceedingly difficult assignment, our friends at Parents' Choice Foundation went first to their in-house library – a twenty-five year archive – and compiled a list of titles selected, throughout those years, by parents, grandparents, librarians, educators and many, many children.

The Parents’ Choice “Best 25 of 25” Book Committee, comprised of parents, teachers, librarians and critics, then reviewed and reevaluated the selections, honed the list again, and again, and came up with what they believe are very fine choices. When making the final selections, they looked for a balance of humor, history, character and ethics. They had to divide the list into two age groups – infant through age nine, and ages 10 and up.

I love Sandra Boynton books (a few are mentioned above). My personal favorites are Moo Baa La La La, Snuggle Puppy, and Barnyard Dance. You may feel a little silly reading them, but my daughter loves them!

Re: books

I like the Boynton books because now Joseph can sound out the words on his own.

"How does a Dinosaur say Good Night?" was our favorite. We started out by reading them before they could talk. Then we would ask them where is the ball? and they would point to the ball. Then when they were learning to talk, we would point & say "What's this?" Now we're up to the names of dinosaurs. I think it's a great book for all ages.

"Click, Clack, Moo!" is great too - My husband is union and finds it amusing that the animals go on strike. He also likes the ones by Madonna - Mr. Peabody's Apples.
