Questions to ask at 1st RE appointment?
Can you ladies help me put together a list of questions to ask at a 1st RE appointment?
I'm not sure if a thread like this exists already. I'm sure it does but I couldn't find it easily. If you know of one, can you link me to it?
Thanks!

Re: Questions to ask at 1st RE appointment?
I asked about what testing I should have, talked about how aggressive we were going to be, the drugs that ay be involved, we asked questions about IUIs because we knew that would be out first step, just general things regarding how things worked in his office, i asked about communication and what was preferred (email, phone, etc). After they run tests and give you a dx, thats when the specific questions come out.
Good luck !

What the REs philosophy is on how aggressive you should be.
What the monitoring hours are.
Who does the monitoring? Will you see him/her for monitoring, or others in the practice?
What the practice's success rates are.
How can you contact him/her when you have questions? If you can use email, what is his/her average response time?
Good luck! I was so nervous for the first appointment. After that you'll feel more comfortable because you'll know exactly what is going on with your body and you'll have a game plan.

Re: Questions to ask at 1st RE appointment?
I would bring with me all infertility work up previously done for you and your DH. It really helps with the discussion. Plus it saves a lot of time. I would ask all of the questions the two ladies posted above and also find out what the success rates are for your specific age group and diagnosis. Also, it is very important to find out if the RE specializes in you condition. For example, if he/she specilizes in recurrent miscariages and your diagnosis is High FSH, chances are he/she won't be able to help you.
Good Luck!

Thanks so much! This is a great help while putting together a list.
I have my consult appointment scheduled for 12/6.
I can't wait to have some answers.
