forgive my ignorance
What exactly are diner fries with cheese and gravy? What kind of cheese? What type of gravy? I tend to avoid diners and there were none where I grew up.

You my friend are describing Poutine which is a dish consisting of French fries topped with fresh cheese curds, covered with brown gravy or sauce and sometimes additional ingredients. (Wikipedia)
In my opinion it is a heart attack on a plate. I had it once and am glad I did. It is extremely yummy, but I am glad it is from Canada and not here other wise I would eat it more often.

Its not the same as poutine...the cheese is usually mozzerella where poutine cheese is curd cheese, so its slightly differen.
When I was in high school we ate our fries with marinara sauce.
Now that I live in the North of England, my favorite is Chippy Chips wit'gravy and mushy peas AND vinegar. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Whoa! I'm not man enough to try that.
Thanks for all the replies. My wife will never let me eat cheese fries with gravy. Something about heart health and cholesterol...blah, blah, blah
