Sorry, a noob question...
... I feel like I read this somewhere before. Don't some people have mild cramps before they ovulate? Or some other symptoms?? Like they can actually feel that they're about to ovulate?

I get O pains/cramps sometimes but not everyone does.

Yes, many women have minor (sometimes even severe) cramps during their mid-cycle. It's called Middleshmertz. If you google it, you'll learn a lot of info.
