Can you freeze fresh blueberries?
I have this amazing blueberry pie recipe that I am forced to make 8829294854739 times during each holiday season by random family members. But blueberries, especially around the holidays, are really expensive! I was just looking at some circulars and I noticed that blueberries are on sale at one particular store. Can I buy a whole bunch of containers of fresh blueberries and freeze them? If so, how?
TIA!!!!

Re: Can you freeze fresh blueberries?
Personally, I would freeze them first spread out on a cookie sheet and then put them in a ziplock bag. I'd be worried they'd mush together if you just freeze them all at once in a ziplock bag.

Re: Can you freeze fresh blueberries?
You can! Just wash them first, dry them and put them in a ziplock. No need to even defrost them for recipes and they will stay whole (not mushy at all!) Somehow, they don't freeze together into a big frozen block

Re: Can you freeze fresh blueberries?
yes, you can. Some fo the groceries have frozen maine blueberries which are excellent for pies IMO.. I prefer them to the big ones. So if you can't get the fresh, I def reccommend those for baking!

Trader Joe's has an awesome selection of frozen fruits, at reasonable prices.
If you do freeze fresh ones, then freeze them on a cookie sheet first, as a PP wrote.

Re: Can you freeze fresh blueberries?
I just picked up a huge bag of frozen blueberries from BJs. They were $7.99 then a $2 off coupon. I was nervous how they would take in the blueberry crumb cake I was making, but it was incredible!!
