Anything you shouldn't be doing?
Last time when we were TTC I still went out and had drinks, ate healthy, but didn't watch everything I eat, etc...
When I got BFP last time that's when I stopped and really started to change things. Obviously no drinking and of course ate much healthier.
Besides taking Prenatals are you girls changing anything now while TTC? I told myself I wouldn't and enjoy what I do anyways until I get that BFP then I'll change my facewash, add more veggies and carbs, etc.
Does changing things now help?

I don't know if it helps but, I am trying to stay away from diet drinks and anything with artificial sweetners.

thanks! I don't really care for soda anyway. Once in a while. I got my big glass of water.
I know last time I was drinking a lot of green tea when we were TTC b/c I know it's healthy then they say not to when you're pregnant

Re: Anything you shouldn't be doing?
I haven't changed to much just no meds, I have been taking prescription prenatal for a few months, and I cut my caffeine in-take to 1 cup a day. No artifical sweeteners, but other then that, I am doing everything else as normal.
You have to live your life, and a lot of women get pregnant with all this stuff and sometimes even things that are total no-no's. I don't really believe that any of it is helping me get pregnant any sooner, I just feel it will be better for me once I am pregnant to not even have to worry about changing anything at that point, if that makes any sense.

I did as well. That;s really it. I cut down on coffee big time, I only have a small cup in the morning. I also try to stay away from fish high in mercury like tuna but that's really has no effect on whether you get pregnant or not. I just read that mercury can stay in your body for a while so I decided on that one myself. I also try not to eat too many processed foods and I steer clear of foods with high fructose corn syrup but that's part of my regular diet so not sure if that really counts.

Does caffeine effect your ability to conceive?
I'm just trying to eat healthier overall. I have some weight to lose and I wonder if my extra weight is preventing me from conceiving. I don't know. I'm sure it doesn't help. I haven't cut anything out at all. I love cocktails and until I have a real reason to cut them out, I'm not going to.

I read on a few pregnacy sites that it has been shown to effect your rates including male intake as well. I was a caffeine addict so I knew it wasn't going to be easy for me to stop it cold turkey when i eventually get a bfp. withdrawls (which you can suffer from when quiting caffeine) aren't good for a pregnancy either so for me, it was easier to cut back to one cup a day which a lot of doctors allow durning pregnancy anyway. but as with EVERYTHING you have to do what's best for you, and every site, and dr will tell you something different.
from babycenter.com
Does caffeine affect fertility? Maybe. Some studies have shown a link between caffeine consumption and a woman's ability to conceive.
One study, for example, showed that women who ingested 300 mg. of caffeine per day or more had a 27 percent lower chance of conceiving than those who had no caffeine. But other studies have suggested little or no correlation between caffeine and fertility.
To be safe, if you're trying to get pregnant, it's probably wise to go easy on the caffeine. Most experts agree that moderate amounts of caffeine — less than 300 mg. a day — don't appear to affect a woman's fertility.
On the other hand, there is some evidence that getting 200 mg. or more of caffeine a day while you're pregnant raises your risk of miscarriage — so this would be a good time for you to start cutting back.

Re: Anything you shouldn't be doing?
i tried living a more healthy lifestyle beforehand...i figured i'd have a few months to detox but really it was only a few weeks...
no diet products, no soda, no artifical sweetner and i cut out caffeine...
i stayed away from seafood and tuna
i've also been trying to limit hfcs and i've been using organic produce - especially when it comes to the dirty dozen fruits/veggies b/c of pesticides
it's about time i started trying to be more healthy and once we have a child i want them to eat healthy as well so i figure now is the time for DH and I to get better habits ourselves...
i wish i could say i cut out fast food but i haven't i had it twice in 2 weeks!

ITA I dont want to have to be bothered adjusting my diet while adjusting to a pregnancy. Im trying to eat now as I would if I were already pg.

Re: Anything you shouldn't be doing?
For me , it's more what I should be doing . I am not a drinker/ smoker to begin with , so that was never an issue.
I started with more fresh fruits and veggies, less processed stuff ( which is hard due to convenience ) ,began over the counter pre-natals , and Folic acid. I was so unhealthy while I was pregnant with my first DC I stopped working out completely and ate for 12 .
I also am drinking much more water. Coffee however, there is no way ! I willl cut down when I get the BFP
