Are all Quest Lab workers nasty or what????
I go to the one in Middle Village, most often... and there is only ONE nice guy there (who thankfully did my testing this morning)... the rest of them are just angry at life and take it out on you.
Today DH and I each had 9:30 appts at 2 different Quest Labs. I was going for PCOS testing (including hormones, glucose and insulin) along with beta and progesterone. DH is sperm analysis.
So yesterday we go to CVS to get the sterile cup. They didn't have one. We couldn't find one. OK... pain in the arse, but we will get one when he drops me off at my appt (early) and then he can do his business and drop off his stuff to his location. I get to the Middle Village Quest and ask the lady for a sterile cup.. she says OK, walks away and never comes back. A man then approaches and the conversation goes as follows:
Me: May I please have a sterile cup for my husband. He has to do a semen analysis.
Nasty: What is the test for?
Me: A semen analysis for my husband
Nasty: Are you sure?
Me: (in my head... am I sure?... really dude??) Yes I'm positive he has a script for a semen analysis (thinking... why would I make this up? WHO would make this up? What else would I need this cup for?).
Nasty: Blank stare at me... like I'm the idiot
Me: Would you like to see the script?
Nasty: Yes.
I asked DH to run to the car to get his script. Then I hand nasty the script. Nasty goes to get the cup. As he's putting it in the bag he is lecturing us that we won't make it in time, as he is taking his time putting it in the bag. He keeps going on and on about how we will be late and blah blah blah... aka killing precious minutes!! He wouldn't stop talking and wasn't handing the cup over...
Me: OK we can keep talking about being late and kill time so that he is indeed late, or you can just hand that cup over here so he at least has a chance to get it there by 9:30.
He hands the cup over finally. DH made it to his location by the time on the paper. The woman over there was nasty to him as well she was being combative and didn't want to take his semen... he asked her to get someone else to help him and that person took his sample.
What's up with these foolish quest workers???

I just said I needed it for a semen analysis... I think i'm pretty positive... I mean why would I make that up?? And if I were to use it for something "else or bad" WHY would I chose a semen analysis as the reason for the cup? wouldn't that be an embarrassing lie to tell???
Shouldn't those that draw blood from us be smarter than that?????
like... what "bad things" could I POSSIBLY be doing with a sterile cup that he didn't seem to want to give me a cup??? Are kids these days shooting up with sterile cups now????

I would most certaintly be firing off a letter or email to someone at Quest. That is totally unacceptable.

Seriously even if this was not REALLY for a semen analysis ... maybe you just wanted to lie your way into getting the cup  who knows... there are weird people out there.... The point is- who cares?! It's just a stupid plastic cup!!!! You shouldn't need a script just to get the cup you should just be able to tell them you want it- and they give it to you. The awkwardness alone of asking for it should earn you the cup even if you don't truly "need" it

I'd do exactly the same thing.
It pizzes me off when people get away with behaving this way....If I ever behaved like this at work, I would be out on the street in no time. If Mr Nasty doesn't like his job he should let someone else who doesn't have a job and would love to have one take over

When DH and went to a Quest recently.. the workers there were pretty rude, both to the patients in the waiting room, and to each other!
The woman who was supposed to take my blood kept yelling at the other workers, shaking her head and saying how incompetent they all were and how she didn't trust them to do their job correctly.
she was doing all this in the midst of taking my personal info down and i kept having to repeat myself to her because she was interrupting herself to speak to the other workers.
I double checked that my info was right and sat there waiting and waiting for her to take my blood. When she finally did, i then went to go find DH who was having another worker take his blood.
I walked into the room where he was only to have to listen to that worker complain about his supervisor (the woman who took my blood)
it was nuts! We left there hoping they managed to get our blood organized correctly because they seemed to be too busy yelling at each other and themselves!

I haven't found the Quest workers by me to be nasty, but they are usually kind of aloof and standoffish. They all look miserable to be there!

The one I go to, they all are nice. In fact, one woman in particular was very kind to me during my miscarriage when I was there constantly following my betas.
