Bomb threat at my daughter's MS
We received an automated call from the school district last week that there was writing on the boys bathroom wall stating that a bomb would go off at the middle school (my daughter's school) on 10/27.
We received another automated call today that there will be extra security tomorrow and that all backpacks will be searched before the children enter school.
Would you send your child to school?

Maybe I'm paranoid, but I wouldn't. Okay, so there's extra security tomorrow...what if a bomb was brought in today? Did they do a search of the school?

My DC's are not in middle school yet, but I don't think I would send them if they were

Re: Bomb threat at my daughter's MS
I would.
My reasons are: -more security is in place than normal. -allowing kids to stay home seems to be the entire point of a bomb threat. -if someone intends to plant a bomb, they aren't going to write on the bathroom wall.

When DS was in 9th grade 2 years ago they had bomb threats everyday for about 2 weeks. It was all over the news. Yes, he went to school. Everyday. They had to all get clear backpacks for the year and it was a huge headache. But never, for one second, did I think it was actually legitimate and not some teenager pushing boundaries.

Re: Bomb threat at my daughter's MS
Thank you everyone. I did end up sending her, although I know a lot of parents kept their kids home.
She usually leaves her cell phone in her locker. I asked her to keep it on her today just in case there were any problems.

I know it's nervewracking to think about this...but they don't take these things lightly at all. Hang in there
