If you were in the market for a new couch
I'm having such a hard time deciding. DH really wants to get leather since it's easier to clean if they are sick or have an accident, but I feel like our kids are old enough now that it's not really an issue.

Re: If you were in the market for a new couch
I love my microfiber couches and I find it easy to spot clean. It came with a life time stain removal guarentee on it just incase. Im not crazy about leather myself...I find microfiber to be much more cozy.
Like you said...yopu dont have really little kiddies either...they should be able to somewhat take care of the new furniture. DD is 4,5 and she knows to be careful around the furniture. Ofcourse accidents happen, but I think youd be Ok with microfiber if thats what you like better.

Re: If you were in the market for a new couch
I had a leather sofa that I replaced by a microfiber sectional WITH stain protection plan.
Honestly, the leather is so much easier to clean and maintain.
DS is NOT allowed to go on the couch most of the time. It's also a lighter beige. I had a dark leather one.
I love the cozyness of the microfiber. Feels cozy and "warm". The decorative pillows DO stay in place and don't slide down. That was annoying on the leather sofa.
The leather looked "colder" but it was easier to maintain.
HTH!!

Re: If you were in the market for a new couch
We ended up getting leather. We also payed extra for the "goof proof" plan with Bob's Discount Furniture. Totally worth it, especially since we've only owned the couch for a few months and have already had to get a part replaced!

Re: If you were in the market for a new couch
We have micro-suede which I do reccomend....
However....
Check the thickness of the micro-suede ...our last couches had a nice thick micro-suede...Our new one's is paper thin and from my DS being , well- a 5 year old boy (need I say more ) we now have lots of little holes by the seams.....I really wished we had payed closer attention to the material and not only to the comfort facor

Re: If you were in the market for a new couch
We love our leather. I had microfiber when DD was a baby and had to get rid of it after 4 years because it got water spots where I wiped it down We also have a big dog ad microfiber is like a magnet for dog hair The leather wipes down with leather wipes and I can believe what comes off on them.

Re: If you were in the market for a new couch
I just got a new microfiber in the summer. I'm not a leather couch fan. My kids don't eat or drink on it unless it's something dry like popcorn. I've had to spot clean it here and there and I use a baby wipe. My youngest is 4 1/2 so I'm not that worried about bathroom accidents. DD was sick at the end of July and I did have her lay on the couch in our playroom though. Ours comes with the warranty that covers messes like bodily functions and even stuff like nail polish or other messes as well. Day to day, I suppose your DH is right, I would see wiping down leather as much easier but again, I'm not a fan of it and I really don't want to live with something I don't like. I chose MF in the poll obviously

Re: If you were in the market for a new couch
I agree for younger kids, leather is the way to go (save for BALLPOINT PEN ON MY LEATER COUCH!). Now that the kids are older, you can opt for either.
One factor is my kids are not allowed to eat except for the occasional popcorn & drinks are forbidden outside of the kitchen.
I do prefer microfiber, which we may opt for within the next year.

Re: If you were in the market for a new couch
Robbie and No RUINED my microfibre couch. I am still unsure as to whether this new one will be leather or not since at 9 and 7 I have still caught them using them as gym equipment.

Microfiber is easy to clean and I like the feel of it better. I think they are both easy to clean, so it's more of a personal choice.

Thanks everyone for the input! I'm looking forward to another weekend of dragging DH and the kids from one furniture store to the next.
