Need some help from you girls...
I've been avoiding posting much b/c of a lot of different reasons....but I used to be over on TTC a lot. DH sperm count is very low and he was trying a variety of different things and meds but he just went back to the MD the other week and it's not that much better. So we're on to IUI.
I have to start charting my temp and using OPK's. I've used OPK's before so that's not a problem. However I'm a little confused with the temp. When do I start taking my temp?
Beware - TMI - I stopped the pill in the beginning of Sept. Got a "pill period" Sept 8 and then nothing since. However, on Sunday I started spotting brown. Yesterday it was MUCH MUCH heavier....but still brown. Today, still mostly brown but has tints of red, especially when I wipe. I feel like complete crap today (no cramps tho). Would you guys constitute any of these days as Day 1?

Re: Need some help from you girls...
I'm sorry DH's count hasn't gone up.
I would say once you need to wear a pad or tampon that's when you should count CD1. s far as when to start temping you can start now or wait until AF is gone, either way is fine. If you haven't already read it, Taking Charge of your Fertility is a great book to help with temping/charting.
Good luck!

Re: Need some help from you girls...
does DH have other sperm issues besides count or is it strictly a count issue? i only ask because IUI may not be the best choice if there are sperm issues, and IVF with ICSI may be what you really need. im the last person in the world to push IVF but i know you can guarantee fertilization with IVF, whereas IUI you are only shortening the journey for the sperm.
either way i wish you tons of luck and that your stay here is short. i agree that if you have to wear something for AF, its CD1.
as far as temping, i do agree to read TCOYF. its really explains it well. i just gave my copy to my cousin who is starting to TTC. basically you get a basal temp thermometer (cheap from target or any drug store) and take your temp every day when you wake up at the same time, before you do anything else. you chart the results and they show a pattern that will tell you if you ovulated. the first cycle it wont tell you when you are going to ovulate, you should track CM and use OPKs. after you have a few months of patterns you can predict O. temping just confirms that it happened.
good luck again!!!!

Re: Need some help from you girls...
Thanks girls! I'm going to count yesterday as CD1.
DH's sperm count is the only issues. Morphology, volume, # alive, etc is all perfect. Just the count is the issue. My MD already suggested possibly putting me on clomid to increase chances as well. But this is all very preliminary at this point.

I agree with FLOWER. Your RE may want you to try iui because it will be "less invasive" and there is some possibility of it working. DH and I are on our way to IVF sched for next month and it couldn't occur any faster. I feel like due to the low sperm count issues that we wasted too much precious time with IUIs. All the best.

If you're considering IUI and taking clomid, are you under the care of an RE, or just your gyno? Only reason i ask is that if you're seeing an RE, they'd be tracking your hormone levels with bloodwork throughout your cycle, so i'm not sure what you'd need to be temping for? I've never had the RE tell me to temp as a method since they do all the monitoring for me And if you're going to be taking Clomid, you should be under the care of someone that knows what they're doing good luck!
