did anyone here stop BF and switch...
to formula? for personal reasons, i just dont think the breastfeeding is for me and its not working out for my dear hannah either. i know, i just wrote in another post that i am seeing a lactation consultant, but i just dont think its working out. i am just looking for some support. i know "breast is best", but in my heart of hearts i know that switching would be best for me and my family. just looking for personal experiences and advice on how to stop. tia!

Re: did anyone here stop BF and switch...
I wanted to so badly and Alyson would not latch! I tried and tried and I was tired of trying to force her....so formula we went. I pumped a few times a day which gave me enough for 1 (sometimes 2) bottles of BM a day. Did that for 6 weeks and stopped.
You have to do what makes you feel comfortable with your daughter...that is the right thing to do. She'll grow fine on formula.
If you pump...gradually slow the # of sessions you pump and your milk will disappear on it's own. I only got engorged when my milk came in. I wasn't drinking enough water and therefore not producing enough milk...so I didn't have issues stopping.

Re: did anyone here stop BF and switch...
I never bf, but was able to pump enough so dd got 6 months of only bm.
I stopped because I was producing too much milk and got mastitis.
Anyway, I was told by my ob to just stop pumping cold turkey. It was awful- I was so engorged and bedridden for 4 days with high fevers.
So, my advice is wean off slowly to avoid the pain!

I did. 6 weeks after she was born.I stopped cold turkey and just let them dry up. My DD was already getting a formula bottle at night before bed and one day I just woke up and switched over. Your boobs will kill for 2 days. Wear a tight sports bra. BF is not for everyone. Be proud you gave it a shot
