Talk to me about chicken thighs...

I have never had them.

Are they sorta like b/s chicken breast?

How to prepare them best?

What do they taste like?

Re: Talk to me about chicken thighs...

Chicken thighs remind me of the drumsticks. I think they are a little more flavourful to be honest.

I don't have a crockpot, but I'd imagine you could make some good stews with them. I made that Emeril recipe with the lemon and 30 cloves of garlic in a Le Crueset and it was delish! Thighs are perfect for that sort of thing, IMO. Chicken Riesling is another dish that I use that works well for thighs.

Re: Talk to me about chicken thighs...

Chicken thighs in my opinion are nothing like breasts. They have a lot more flavor and don't dry out like breasts. I use boneless, skinless for fajitas and stews. I love them but they do have more fat then breast meat.

I love chicken thighs, they have a lot more flavor than breasts and imo are more versatile. Google Emerils Lemon Garlic chicken recipe, thats a real winner!!

The chicken thighs also contain a lot more nutrients than the white meat chicken - if you take off the skin, it is still a very healthy meat to use.

They are good grilled (marinated in a variety of ways), slow cooked, made in sauce. Great and flavorful in soups too.

The only thing I haven't done is bread them cutlet style but I think other than that, you can't really go wrong.

Re: Talk to me about chicken thighs...

I like chicken thighs the best of all the chicken parts. BBQ'ed thighs are great but I use them for a bunch of things. Look for boneless, skinless ones to make it easier and healthier. The only downside compared to a breast is there is less meat and if you arent a fan of dark meat, they might not be for you.

I bake them at 350 for 45-60 minutes.

I cover them in EVOO, salt, pepper, garlic powder, crushed garlic, and fresh rosemary.

Red potatoes quartered, or baby reds halved, in the same pan.

Covered in foil for the first 30-40 minutes, and uncovered for the last 15-20.

Love chicken thighs.

We'e used them to make pulled chicken (in the crokcpot) since we don't eat other meats and it's delish!

Love chicken thighs, here's my favorite way to prepare:
Marinate bone in skin on chicken thighs in fresh lemon juice (2 lemons) for 15 minutes. Zest the lemons before hand and mash the zest with salt and pepper. Spread salt, pepper, and zest mixture on the chicken. Cook the thighs for 45 minutes at 425 degrees.

Re: Talk to me about chicken thighs...

I make chicken thighs all of the time. I always take the skin off. They are very flavorful and moist.

Many different ways to make them. Mostly I bake them with salt, pepper, garlic, rosemary, onion powder, paprika and olive oil.

I also make cornflake chicken, BBQ chicken, boneless ones I use for fajitas and tacos.

The yummiest IMO.

Re: Talk to me about chicken thighs...

loooove chicken thighs.

try this:

lay lemon slices in a baking dish. top with fresh chopped rosemary and the chicken thighs (bone-in, skin on)

mix EVOO, salt, pepper, freshly chopped rosemary and garlic cloves, and a big squeeze of lemon juice.

bake at 425 for just under an hour. the skin will be nice and crispy and the juices from the lemon make an awesome light, fresh sauce. the chicken is tender and delicious!
