getting a file #
how do you get one?
My brothers GF needs to get one I know of a possible job for her. I got a job in NYC without one and then I guess they gave me papers to fill out to get one, so I dont know what to tell her to do.
please help

I think you can get a job without having a file # already.
For myself, when I was hired, I didn't have a file # but was then given one.

same her but wasnt sure with the iring freezes going on if that was still happening

The job offer spurs the creation of a file number. Unless your friend is a SpEd teacher (which I think is exempt), the NYC hiring freeze is still in effect. She can't be hired, so she will not be eligible to receive a file number.

Last year, yes... but I think this year, the new small schools weren't exempt from the freeze?
