how much do you think it costs to have an infant? like adding up diapers, formula, extra stuff you gotta buy after the shower. uh i dont know. we have no idea what we're getting into! Im researching it, I just wanted to know what you ladies think, have you ever thought about it or worked it out? those who already know, please share!

Re: NTTCR but parenting related
Hi, I'm BTDT so I can help from my experience.
I'd say we went through a mega box of diapers a month $40 (200 diapers), maybe a couple more the first few months.
I BF so can't help you w/ formula.
There are also co-pays at the ped. The "left over" that insurance doesn't pay from your hospital stay/delivery. Newborn pics Baby food (after 4-6 months)...this gets $$ Christening/baby naming party expense First birthday expense
We basically got everything at the shower & more than enough baby clothes after baby was born for the first 9 months, no exaggeration.
Save some of your gc for after the baby is born & you see exactly what it is you need for your particular baby.

Re: NTTCR but parenting related
I'm a newly wed and just worked out an expense sheet for DH and me and that was stressing me out...I can't imagine the expensive of a LO and then it only gets worse when they get older and want to join sports, music or dancing!

Re: NTTCR but parenting related
There is a calculator online somewhere...it does everything, diapers, daycare, etc. I dont think it is 100% accurate but you can get a rough estimate. It can be anywhere from $4k-10k, but depends on daycare and what other stuff you need to buy.
I just found the link!
http://www.babycenter.com/babyCostCalculator.htm
PS - you may have to adjust some of the prices yourself.
