My glass baking dish exploded in the oven... update at bottom
I was roasting DD some squash in the oven and started hearing clinking noises in my kitchen within 15 minutes of placing the dish in the oven. I then discovered that my glass baking dish was shattering in the oven
I turned off the oven immediately and for the next hour or so the glass continued to clink and shatter. DH and I finally opened the oven a few hours later when the noise stopped and saw that the dish broke into 2 big pieces. There were shards of glass everywhere in the oven.
The baking dish was about 9 x 13 and I've used it for at least 6 years. Nothing like this has ever happened before and I'm nervous about putting another glass dish in my oven without goggles! BTW, the oven was only set to 375 degrees if that matters.
I'm not sure what Pyrex customer service is going to tell me...the stories DH found online were not that promising (they essentially blamed the customer). I'm assuming it's a freak occurrence and my bad luck, but still unsettling nevertheless.
I'm just happy that my kids were not in the kitchen when this happened!
It's hard to see, but here's a pic of the pyrex dish beginning to break:

This happened to me with Pampered Chef stoneware. Everyone raves about them and mine cracked in 2 first time I used it. I'm to say I didn't even try to call customer service. I know they will replace, but I didn't think about it for a while.

Sorry it happened!
I would honestly just chalk it up to use. Sometimes these things happen, there's no rhyme or reason. You got 6 good years out of it, I'd just replace it and move on

The glass may have been chipped and you didn't know, but I would still call.
I had an issue with my Corning Ware and I read online where people weren't successful. I called anyway and they shipped me a new dish!

Good to know, I was going to give them a second chance, but now I'm not. Thanks for sharing.

I'm in agreement with the poster who said it probably had a chip in it and this was the last hurrah. Pyrex is really good stuff, and I wouldn't hesitate in replacing it with another!
So glad nobody was harmed in the making of dinner.

Re: My glass baking dish exploded in the oven... (now with pic)
UPDATE:
I just called Pyrex and their customer service was fabulous. They apologized, asked me a bunch of questions about the incident, and then offered to replace it for free! I declined replacing it with another Pyrex glass dish, and then they offered to replace it with a CorningWare SimplyLite baking dish that's about the same size and made with a different type of glass.

it's the new favorite in our house. and ever since we started produce shopping at a local farm, I've learned a whole lot more about squash
we love it with butter or olive oil, a touch of salt, and cinnamon.
how do you do yours??

That sounds yummy! I usually put in butter, nutmeg, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
