Let's talk about diet sabotagers
I thought of posting this b/c so many of you responded to my "Ditch the DH as a diet partner" thread with complaints that DH sabotages your diet. So, I thought we could discuss/ vent.
My DH is a sabotager but he doesn't mean to be a jerk, lol. He is just HUNGRY HUNGRY HUNGRY and looooves bad foods. He won't really "suggest" that I fall off the wagon but at the same time he will ALWAYS be my partner in crime.
MIL on the other hand... Now that's been a problem. I stayed home for 6 months after ds was born and spent most of my days with MIL. She is an unbelievable Italian cook and she makes it hard to say no. I mean, she literally is like, EAT EAT EAT, you know you want it, it's DELCIIOUS and I made it just for you, lol.
If I remain hard core eventually she will try and cook a little healthier- like baking cutlets instead of frying them. However, if she sees you make ONE SLIP a bowl of pasta followed by meatballs and then a cake will be set down in front of you.
I mean, I can't complain that I have a wonderful MIL who wants to feed me, lol, but I will say that I am finally gettng on track since I came back to work. Sundays are still a battle for me though.

Re: Let's talk about diet sabotagers
My sister is the worst. Always adding a bottle of wine to every meal, even when it's just me and her. It so hard to lose weight when I hang out with her. I love wine, but I don't lose any weight when I drink it (even if it's only a glass).
I used to be that way with food but I read online somewhere that when someone offers you something you should say "no, thank you. I'm not hungry". If you say something along the lines of "oh I'd love to but I really shouldn't" or "no, I'm dieting" your basically just begging them to convince you to eat it.
If you say your not hungry, they can't really argue that. It's really helped me when it comes to food. But, for some reason I can't say no to wine

My BFF is one. I see her about once a month when I travel for work and we go out to dinner. I always get something good and then of course she has to get some bad and then wants dessert and seriously tries to convince me to get it too. I always tell her no but it's hard. She doesn't want to accept being the only person eating dessert!

Re: Let's talk about diet sabotagers
My in-laws eat so bad and always make TONS of food and try to get you to eat more. They are bigger people so I think their bellies can maybe fit more but they don't understand that a) I cannot eat that much and b) I try to watch what I eat and dont need 3-4 portions!! Whenever I decline a 2nd portion or decline a salad, they are like why - you can afforrd to eat it. In my head I am like NO, I dont eat more bc then I will gain wait. Duh!
I feel bad bc whenever we go to visit MIL thinks she has to make elaborate meals all the time. I also don't need appetizers, salads or desserts - just give me chicken and a veggie please. I always end up gaining 5-6 lbs after 7-10 days at their house and it drives me NUTS! They always want to put bagels out or make pancakes for breakfast and we tell them over and over that we don't eat breakfast and a banana is fine! I feel so mean saying all this but it just irritates me a bit you know? I work hard at my diet and hate blowing it when we go there.

my good friend is like this, she can eat and drink and not get fat and she doesn't understand that I don't want to drink a whole bottle of wine, or order dessert or more food with her! ugh.

Re: Let's talk about diet sabotagers
One of my coworkers is like this.
This morning alone, she chucked three Hershey nuggets and a caramel biscotti on my desk.
Yesterday she gave me an Oreo brownie.
I've asked her not to do it; she knows I'm on WW.
So I loudly and ceremoniously either a) dump it in my trash bin or b) chuck them on the communal counter in the office kitchen.
People engage in this behavior because they want their own indulgences to be justified. Meanwhile, no one gives a rat's arse if someone has an extra drink or a huge dessert!

Re: Let's talk about diet sabotagers
I have a coworker who likes to bake and is always bringing in cookies, brownies, cupcakes, etc. She will offer me something and when I say no, she won't take no for an answer. She will constantly say "come on, you know you want one". One day I snapped at her and told her I was watching my weight and when I said no, I meant no. She stormed away and didn't talk to me for a week. Meanwhile she NEVER eats any of the stuff she brings in and is very slim. She hasn't bugged me since I snapped at her though, so it worked.

Re: Let's talk about diet sabotagers
My sister is literally a size 0 and is 5'9" tall. She can eat whatever she wants when ever she pleases and not gain an ounce. I on the other hand can look at a cookie and gain 5lbs. I have to workout and eat right to maintain a healthy weight. We were living in a 2 family house. I was upstairs apt and she had the downstairs one. I gained a tom of weight from hanging out with her so I started Taebo to help shed it. So I would be upstairs sweating and jumping around like an idiot while she was downstairs baking brownies. And the smell would rise up and fill the room I was working out in. Needless to say I didn't lose much weight until she moved out
