Open board for anyone & everyone. I don't belong on the IF board, but I go on to root secretly for people.
Both DH & I have at least a 1.5 hour commute into the city. He leaves at 5ish, I drop the kids off between 7-7:30am at daycare
Both kids (aged 3 & 4.5) are in daycare @ $487.50/week - it's more for infants. We used to have 2 grandmothers as backup sick care. Now we're down to none which is ok. I have some flexibility in my job to work from home if necessary. DH doesn't get paid if he doesn't go in, so the sick care, appts are usually my responsibility. Home @ 6:30pm. DH usually picks up the kids - or every so often my parents pick up. When I walk in the door, dinner is either on the table & about 15 minutes from being ready. I clean up from dinner, bathe the kids by 7:30pm. We sit down for a bedtime story (often all of us- rather than just one parent). We read them one story with a book, one story without (they help make up the story line - it usually has something that they need to chime in like our address or phone number). They go to bed. They get out of bed. They get in & out of bed until about 8:30pm with "I need a drink of water" followed by the potty parade.
Weekends are usually less hectic - Fridays, DH has band practice, so I'm on for that night. Saturday & Sunday we do a family thing. I usually get a few hours on the weekend for my time.
So that's my routine. Not that bad, but it keeps me busy & happy.

Re: Repost from TTC- What is your schedule like?
We actually have it really good right now, better than we thought it would be. While pregnant I got a job at the same place as DH and we are only 15 minutes away from home, before this job it would take me about an hour to get home. Now DD (almost 6 months) wakes at 5 and DH and I alternate feeding her and playing with her and us getting ready for work. For the past few weeks I have even been able to squeeze in a few minutes for exercise before work. It's not much but it makes me feel better that I did something before I spend most of the day on my butt. Dh drives DD to daycare. I pick up from daycare and sometimes DH gets home before I do and can start dinner and other times we get there close to the same time and will take our dog for a quick walk. Then one of us will start dinner while the other plays with dd. Sometimes(like last night) DH has to work late and I am on my own but it is much easier now than when she was younger. DD now goes to bed around 8 and we usually are in bed by 10.

Re: Repost from TTC- What is your schedule like?
DH works FT Retail and is in the thinking stages of going back to school....might be in addition to FT or even cut back to PT and then pick up a evening job for cash (bartending, waiting tables, etc). He often works late shifts so he comes home around 10.
I work PT BUT I bring her with me so that's a plus. But we are there 5 days a week and almost all day.
Running the house is SO tough...we have 2 dogs....laundry gets neglected, dinners tend to be quick and easy or in the slow cooker. We make adjustments.
It's mostly money in this household and we make it work.

Re: Repost from TTC- What is your schedule like?
Our schedule goes like this.
Dh and I alternate getting up with dd if she wakes up before 6:30 am. Dh takes over at 6:30 while I get ready for work, he feeds her, gets her ready for daycare and I leave the house at 7:30. Dh drops her off anywhere from 8-9:30. I pick her up at about 3:45, and dh usually works late so I am on my own most nights. Lately we have been trying to get her in bed my 7:30 or 8.
Dh is self employed so when she is sick he usually stays with her.

Re: Repost from TTC- What is your schedule like?
I work pt(730-1130) and DS goes to my mom (M W F) and my MIL (T, TH) then Im home the rest of the afternoon with him...
DH works anywhere from 6-6
I really consider myself a SAHM- since Im home the bulk of the day.....
We are comfortable- but yet still live paycheck to paycheck..... Since I do the finances for a daycare center... when Ryan gets a little older- I might go up to FT and bring him with me (I get a 75% off discount)
My sal. there is just ok.... but with the daycare benefit- it dosent make sense to leave.. ( we plan to move- and I wont have the grandmas around to babysit)
I do intend to finish up my last 4 classes @ school- so prob in the fall Ill be taking to classes at night- but DH will be home...
Im thinking about taking some real estate courses- not sure what route I would go (babysitting wise) if I went that way (thats why Im still thinking about it)
Its really important to me- to be home- but it dosent always work out that way- (this is part of the reason we are planning to move- cost of living goes down.... then maybe we wont need the 2nd income...) So my current job- really is the next best thing to it-since your child is @ work with you....

Re: Repost from TTC- What is your schedule like?
We have 2 kids. My son wakes us up anytime from 5-5:30am everyday. My dh leaves for work at 6am and then I get out of bed. My daughter usually gets up around that time too. I get all 3 of us ready, get my daughter to the bus stop, son to daycare, me to work 9-5. My dh picks up our daughter at school, I pick up our son at daycare. We get home around 5:15, I make dinner, we alternate baths between the 2 of us, try and get them both down to sleep by 8:30. We relax for 2-3 hours and go to bed. On the weekends, I clean, do laundry and everything else that got neglected during the week. It's hard but I figure in 2 yrs. my son will be in school fulltime and hopefully the money situation will be a little better.
