It's not too hard because it's made for someone who has no background in running. You can repeat a week if you feel you're not ready to move on.

Re: How hard is couch to 5k
I started it at 230 pounds and at that point I was walking about 4 miles a day, I had NEVER run before - NEVER! I did a half-azzed runs in high school when forced and that was it.
I loved the program and ran my 1st 5K race 2 weeks before officially completing the program. It was a challenge for me, there were weeks when I read the runs for the day and thought there was no way I'd be able to do it, but I always did. It never felt discouragingly difficult, just a challenge. I think it is a pretty realistic pace to follow for someone who doesn't run, but not really for someone who is a "couch potato". I think it would be ideal to be able to walk a 5K regularly at a quick pace before starting.
If you want to run, I'd totally try it!

Re: How hard is couch to 5k
It is not bad at all. I actually just finished it. My friend and I started it in July. I use the podcasts to help me keep pace and keep track of time. I never felt like I was going to die. And now I LOVE running. I am trying to convince my dh that a treadmill would be a nice conversation piece for the dining room (only place we have room for it ) And my friend is 6'4 and 300lbs. She is now able to run comfortably for 30 minutes. I dropped about 15lbs doing it and I can run for over 30 minutes (without feeling like I will collapse). I highly recommend it. But be careful.... running can become addictive :) I get mad when it's raining because then I can't run.

DH has been doing this for a little over three weeks now, and it's amazing how much more he is able to run now that when he started. He'll be running his first 5k in November!
