my follistim friends..
especially those who have done IVF - but open to anyone who has used the follistim pen...
i used to think the pen was user friendly, despite the annoying clicking noise. that was when i was doing 75-100ius of follistim. now that ive done a zillion other injectables, the pen is starting to aggravate me. now that i am up to 300ius a day - i find the pen to be incredibly slow!! i dial it up to 300, poke, push the plunger and i literally count down as it sllllloooooooooooowwwwwwwwllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyy clicks down all the meds... at 300iu it takes nearly THIRTY seconds to inject!!!! all of the other meds are in regular syringes are so much quicker. i find that i draw blood on follistim a lot more now than i did with lower doses. i think its so slow that i tend to move it around as its going in, causing a little bleeding after. is this normal or should i try switching pens (i have another one)??
the only med that i inject slow is lovenox since it burns going in.. but otherwise i cant believe how annoying the follistim has become..
i know in a week or two this will be NOTHING since im going to have to get used to PIO... but ill worry about that when the time comes..

I find the pen annoying. Having said that I have had pens that were quicker so try another pen.
Isn't this fun?

I was up to 225 and yes it takes a long time. Especially if you dont want a leakage to occur. I would say the heck with it, its been this long whats another 30 seconds per night right? You are gonna be soon preggo soon and I cant wait! I say once you are me and you are doing lunch to celebratE!!! I have a lot of faith in Dr B!!!!

lol its not the time out of my life that bothers me - its that i have to stand there still with a needle in my belly for 30 seconds!! a regular syringe takes like 4 seconds!!
anyway sorry prednisone keeps you up. i hope i can celebrate in a few weeks

I totallly hated that pen. Yes its painfully slow compared to the other injectables. I once didnt realize that I ran out mid way and had to change vials and wound up poking myself 4 time just for 300iu. ouch. Patience is all I can say. try to keep your hand steady and you will have less chance of a bleed.
