question for all the tempers - please help!
so i woke up at my usual temp time, 6am, and I got a reading of 97.21. this is wayyyy below my coverline (I'm 6DPO) so just for kicks, i immediately took it again (like literally didn't move from the bed), and got 97.13 so being the glutton for confusion that i am, i did it immeiately again, and got 97.03. what gives? all within a span of 5 minutes? is my thermometer toasted?
any thoughts are appreciated, TIA!
eta: link to my chart - clicky here
edit again bc i'm 7 dpo, not 6dpo...

Your mouth was open during those five minutes, right? That will affect your temp. The temp is most accurate right after you wake up assuming that you have been breathing through your nose at night, not your mouth. HTH!

honestly i have no idea lol. but, ive noticed also that my temps have been quite different this cycle and now i'm wondering if it's bc i've had bad allergies and definitely can't breathe thru my nose... never thought of that! and thanks

Sometimes when there is a dip in temperature like that around 6-9DPO, it *could* be an implantation dip. If your temp goes back up tomorrow to normal levels, it may be a good sign.

It's probably nothing - the trend is more important than one individual temperature. Don't worry!
eta: Just remembered that sometimes there's a secondary surge of estrogen early in your LP that can cause a dip in temerature. It's normal. Or it could just be that you slept in a cooler environment than in previous nights. Has your temp done this before?

no it hasn't - there's a link to my chart page which shows the past few cycles. this one is definitely way different. im worried that i'm doing something wrong but i don't know what it could be.

rule of thumb: temps only mean something if they're part of a pattern. if something seems out of whack, see what the next day's temp reveals, because really subtle changes can screw with them.
btw, and i don't know if this is TMI for some, but i temp vaginally. it's much more consistent. temping orally drove me nuts bc my charts looked like the rocky mountains.

this is why i temped vaginally too. its much more accurate, and you dont have to worry about if you slept with your mouth open or not.
