A few questions from a crasher

Hey ladies! I've been around the block a few times on this board already but soon (not yet!) we'll be gearing up for #3 (ETS #3 - originally I said #2 - I'm losing my mind!)

I have a couple of questions b/c this is the first time I've been on a BC pill since I've been married.

I went off when we were married and charted for BC for a year and a half - then we started TTC for #1. Between my babies we just PNP (edited to clarify pulling and praying not a pack n play LOL) b/c we knew it wouldn't be long to try again for #2.

After #2 I went on the mini pill (still nursing at almost 11 months PP) b/c we were knew #3 needed a bit more consideration Chat Icon

Anyway, I got AF back 8 months PP so this is my 3rd cycle on it. I'm just wondering how it works when I go off b/c there are no placebo pills so I don't know when to expect AF.

First cycle was like 29 days - I thought I was golden, that was my usual cycle. Next cycle, 33 days Chat Icon I was POAS I was so confused. This cycle - happy birthday to me this morning - 26 days! Chat Icon again (Mind you I'm only on day 19 in my pill pack)

So how do I do this when it's time? Aside from using OPKs daily (which I'm really not into with 2 kids, working, etc - too much to go back to the craziness of that) when should I assume I'll O??

About 14-17 days (my past history) past my period whenever it is the cycle I go off? Or 14-17 days past whenever I stop the pill? Should I stop the pill to coordinate with AF?? Any thoughts or experiences??

TIA

29 days based on that is your average cycle, but you should keep tracking to see if it's consistent.

You're pretty normal - that's what happens to me too; sometimes i'm 32 days, sometimes 26. on average i'm 29 and usually around days 12 -16 is when i'm considered fertile.

Re: A few questions from a crasher

I was on the mini pill for years because I was unable to take estrogen pills. My cycles were regualr before taking them and went right back to that after stopping them. They were not regular when I was taking the pills.....I always had mid cycle bleeding.

I think they are the easiest pill to get back on a regular schedule with.

Re: A few questions from a crasher

i'm just like you. I vary 26-32 days.

I wanted to start temping to figure out when I O but there really is no point- I still get woken up at least once a night because someone's blankie came off or my three year old needs an escort to the bathroom.Chat Icon I don't think my temps in the morning will be all that accurate.

I'm going to look for EWCM. If there is none- I will still BD days 12-16.

I might also take mucinex from days 11-16 to see if that helps with EWCM.

That's why I don't plan to return to temping either - no one knows what each night brings Chat Icon

My issue is that I do get the EWCM all month long so it throws me off. If I wasn't on the pill, I would have thought I would be O'ing soon based on EWCM yesterday - but I got AF today Chat Icon

I didn't get EWCM on the mini pill - I actually didn't get AF till I was off it Chat Icon - but I get EWCM constantly on Mirena, so I would probably stop the mini pill well before you were thinking of TTC so you could learn your body's signs and signals again.

Oohh, no thank you Chat Icon Once I'm off we need to be willing to "welcome" a pregnancy Chat Icon I'm hoping to not get caught up in the whole TTC activities this round so I guess we'll just BD a lot in my suspected "mid cycle" and see what happens Chat Icon

Re: A few questions from a crasher

After having DD#1, my cycles were never the same. I think that BFing really throws it off- even if you're just nursing a few times a day. I had my cycles back at almost 6 months PP after DD#1, and it took 4 cycles to get pg (I used OPKs). Rather than Oing on day 14 like I had pre-baby#1, I was getting +OPKs on day 15, but not Oing until day 19, then getting AF on day 28.

As much as it sucked I tried temping- but ONLY temping when I got a +OPK, then continuing to tempt until I got a clear thermal shift to confirm O. Had I not done this, I would have never realized how late I was Oing, and that I had a short LP.

The short LP continued when i tried for #3 (still BFing DD#2 at that point). I used OTC progesterone cream to help and it worked.

Good suggestion about just temping around fertile period - I might be able to attempt that!

I'm just confused as to when to "restart" my cycle, KWIM?

I'm not going off the pill yet, but for example, this month I just got AF yesterday. So is 9/23 CD1? I have another 10 days of my pill pack I think. See what I mean? When I'm ready to start, should I just go off the pill when I get my period that month and consider that CD 1 (even if I'm not through my pack) or get AF, then finish the month of pills and consider that CD1??

Sorry, I'm not sure any of the above makes sense Chat Icon
