**SPINOFF** To pregnant on the first try.
Ok, so how many of you honestly thought you would be pregnant the first time trying? and why do/did you think that?
My answer: Again, Im not TTC until November but Ive been off the pill for one month now. I just feel like its going to happen fast for us...but again, I could be TOTALLY WRONG! I just feel like Im preparing myself waaay too much for it not to work Ive been temping, taking vitamins and will start ovulation test strips soon. My period came on time right after stopping BCP and I could of swore I felt ovulation pains last month..again, it could be all in my head! I tend to over analzye things..I just hope I do get preggo in Nov/Dec it would make such a great Christmas gift for everyone!

I never thought I would. In fact I never thought I would get pregnant so quickly. It only took 2 months of trying. I thought it would take us a while. But because of this I'm always super paranoid and nervous!

Re: **SPINOFF** To pregnant on the first try.
Well this is my first month trying and i really hope it happens on the first try! lol
i can see how hard it is for a lot of people to have to try cycle after cycle and have problems...
naturally i would not want to do that...
i feel like it might happen quickly for us too.. but same as you i could be totally wrong...

Re: **SPINOFF** To pregnant on the first try.
nope...i have always said that I think it will take awhile for us. No reason to believe that than just a gut feeling I have. I was hopeful on my first month that I was wrong, but I didn't actually think it would happen on the first try.

I dont know.......we are not TTC till Jan, it seems like it REALLY could happen in a 1 shot deal but it would figure that it would be something that could take some time. I'm cool w/it taking some time (although I hope not!!!) I just hope I don't freak out about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: **SPINOFF** To pregnant on the first try.
I knew I was going to be pregnant. I just Knew it and honestly i felt different immediately after i ovulated. I have a super regular system and never get sick. I didn't even use opk's the first time. after my mc... I had to wait only one month because it was so early and this month i used an opk just in case my cycle was off but no way the day before i got my smiley i told my husband that i has to be tommorow. i can totally tell when i'm about to ovulate and which side too. Luckily my doctor said it would be good if i ttc on a month that i obvulated from a different side and... Yippee this month i did. I did the same thing as you too... took prenatals a little before, tried to keep track of my o (but not with temping or opk's) and eating healthy... lots of leafy foods. This month i did the same and I hate to say it but i really think we will get our BFP again. slight cramping on right side and sore boobs! I'm praying...

I feel like "you never know until you try".
Friends of mine with regular periods, in perfect health took months to concieve so I make no assumptions or guesses as to how long it will take us.
I hope it is quick of course

I totally didn't think we would -- I thought it would take a lot longer than it did actually. When your cycles vary from 85 to 59 to 34 days and everywhere in between, it's just logical to think there's something really wrong with you... so I thought we'd need a lot of help.

Love hearing this! I've never had a cycle in the 80's, but in the 50's definitely. It's good to hear that TTC can still happen easily!

Re: **SPINOFF** To pregnant on the first try.
I don't wanna be the downer here, so consider this more of the voice of reason.
Your body is going to do what it will do. I temped.. used OPKs....... took vitamins like they were going out of style........... you name it. Ultimately, I still ended up needing an RE and 3 medicated IUIs to conceive (I'm back trying again, but that's a whole other story.)
I'm not trying to say you SHOULDN'T be optimistic- but just be realistic. Be prepared for any outcome your first .. second.. third cycle, etc. Even if EVERYTHING is planned out perfectly, there's still an 85% chance it will NOT happen that cycle! Anywhere you look it will tell you there's only a 15% chance of conceiving each cycle.
Again, I'm not trying to be the downer here- but I just think it's important to be realistic because if you do get your hopes up too much and assume it will happen right away.. and it doesn't.. it could be very emotionally draining. If you go into this with a realistic mindset with no assumptions that it will happen in the first cycle or too, it will be a much less daunting process.
I do hope you get your nov/dec Christmas wish - but if you don't, it's not a reason to get too bummed out. With ttc there's always an element of luck each cycle, just keep that in mind!

and how long did it actually take?
I got my period twice this year before I got pregnant. (We started TTC in the new year.)
So, I guess that's 3 cycles? 3 1/2 months?
First cycle was 34 days, second was 34 days, then my period never came again. (The cycle before these two in Nov/Dec was 59 days.)
I got a BFN on CD37 and went to the doctor for a blood test on CD42 and the blood test was negative as well. I felt a lump in my breast then too and my GP said she thought it was because my period was about to start and it'll just go away when my next cycle comes.
I never got my period and got my BFP on CD62. Turns out that I conceived around CD47, give or take a day or two.

ITA. Depending on your age the chances are 15-25% of conceiving any given normal cycle . i think one of the most important lessons i have learned in the last 18 months of TTC is not to set a mental timeline to when you want to conceive. everyone has that "i want to be pregnant/have a baby by X miscellaneous date that is really meaningless to anything" in the back of their heads. try not to set a date (although you already have it looks like). it's just a setup for unnecessary drama and stress if it doesnt happen when you want it to. otherwise, have fun and good luck!

Re: **SPINOFF** To pregnant on the first try.
I was so happy that we got pregnant on our first try b/c I know my obsessive personality. I thought we would be able to dodge the bullet of actually "TTCing", but after the m/c I am beyond obsessive. I just hope it happens just as quickly once I start ovulating, but I hope we have a better result like a baby!
