Caiden must be so excited for his first camping trip.
I agree with the other posters a 7 - 8 person tent gives you enough space to spread out, and store your gear. A basic Coleman dome is a decent tent for Cubs. There are lots of sales on camping items right now. Dont forget the sleeping bags, lanterns and flashlights.
Definitely put up the tent at home before you venture out. We learned the hard way about missing tent poles.
