Camping tent recommendations for Cub Scouts?
Can anyone recommend a good inexpensive tent for camping? Our son started Cub Scouts and this weekend is his first camping trip. We don't have a tent so we need to get one. We need at least a 4 person tent, preferably a 5 person or 6 person since our family will be 5 people soon!
I've looked online and there are none that are affordable that got good reviews. Anyone use one that works great?
Thanks!

Check with the CubMaster. For our pack, siblings can't stay overnight with the pack.
For CubScouts, you're never going anywhere where you need either a super light, heavy-duty, low temp tent. I would just get one that is easy to set up. I like the dome tents myself for stuff like this. I can technically set up the tent by myself, but if DS helps, or another adult helps, it goes up in about 5 minutes or so.

Re: Camping tent recommendations for Cub Scouts?
The Pack we're in is VERY family oriented and I and my other kids can go along and do everything my Cub scout does. He can even do the activities during the campouts. It's because they are a smaller Pack so they allow all family to participate.
I'll look into the tents. A dome one seems fine. I just didn't know what brand is good and what "feature" is a must for Cub Scouts. They all seem to have poor reviews for some reason? Well, unless you spend over $300.00.

Re: Camping tent recommendations for Cub Scouts?
not sure about the boy scout needs but we tent a lot and we have had this 8 person one for about 2 years and love it-
I know the 8 person sounds like a lot but its actually nice to have the extra space for air mattresses and our bags and things and to move around the tent comfortably and not step on anyone

It's basically a dome tent with extensions, so I think it would be a great tent to get. I definitely agree about the extra space. You'll want somewhere to put the packs, a spot for shoes (if it's raining, you don't want them outside, but you don't want them throughout the tent.
If you're able to, put the tent up in the backyard first. The last thing you want is to get to the campsite and find out you're missing a pole, or something.
