I have an older one, I would suggest the new one with the lid that snaps down, makes it much easier for bringing it over to others houses for parties.

I like Hamilton Beach and Rival.
Don't get anything smaller than 6 quarts. Because usually people use crock pots for convenience and to make several meals. Anything smaller will make only small batches.
I like the digital one better and the one you can program. So you don't need to use the microwave or stove timer. The timer in on the crock pot directly. Some will turn down to "warm" when finished cooking from the program time you set up.

the best feature for me is that mine goes to "warm" setting when it finishes cooking. This way it is kept warm for when I get home! I love it! I have an All Clad slow cooker. I like it a lot.

I was just going to post this. Make sure it has a Warm Feature.
My Mom's doesn't and it just shuts off and when you get home, it is sort of cold.

Yeah, it has the auto warmer but recommends not using it for more than 4 hours long...So far it's looking and smelling good.
