Might be a silly question but is a beta test just a blood test the dr does to see if you are pregnant?

yes its a beta HCG it measures the amount of hormone in your system.. theres a qualitative and quantitaive.. quantitaive one will tell you about how far along you should be based on your #s. (sorry my spelling is awful)

most doctors will give you your beta # if its positive. you can get a + beta and a - HPT if its really early and the beta is under 25 or so since thats about what HPTs pick up in urine.
anyway if you are on CD53 are you sure that you ovulated? are you recently off BCP?

two weeks ago I had + opks for like a week staight. I didn;t temp though so Im not sure if i o'd. i have an appt with dr on fri. I went off bcp in june and had a normal cycle in july and no af since.

im not at all trying to scare you but that is the EXACT same thing that happened to me with the OPKs and I was soon after d/x with PCOS. + OPKs for a week isnt entirely normal. although it could DEF still be adjustment from BCP. especially if you had a few normal cycles prior. after going off BCP i didnt have ANY normal cycles.
did you have fertile CM associated with ovulation (EWCM)? have you done any OPKs since? im only asking cause thats what my body did - i would get a week of +OPKs, but then I wouldnt O (i knew this because i was temping) and then a week later i'd get +OPKs again. one cycle i was on like my 6th day of +'s after two other series of +'s that didn't end in O. i went to the RE and was formally diagnosed and haven't looked back since.
you should consider temping to see if you are actually ovulating.

my opks are negative now. i went to the dr about a month ago and had an ultrasound done,,wouldn't the tech have seen if i had pcos?

not necessarily at all. i dont have any cysts associated with PCOS so my u/s looks as normal as any. but my hormone level bloodwork paints a completely different picture.
i wouldnt jump to conclusions or stress about it, but i would request bloodwork. that will tell you if you did ovulate this cycle and will give them an idea of where your hormone levels are at.
