If you get a smiley on an OPK...

does this mean that you defintly ovulate and therefore you should have no trouble getting pregnant?

I know that each month even WITH ovulation there is only a 20-30% chance but my question is:

If you get a smiley, you have LH, which means you ovulate, and therefore you are capable of getting preggo?

TIA I know my questions are silly, I am just trying to learn..I appreciate all your help

You can still get a smiley and not ovulate..this is what I've read...that just bc you have an LH surge, does not mean that you will ovulate!!!

the opk's only detect your LH surge so it is possible to surge and not ovulate. the best indication of ovulation is by tracking your temps

Okay...well I did this to see if I ovulate. Considering we have not started trying I will not worry yet. If after a cple months of trying no dice, then I will temp.

like others say when you get your smiley you're supposed to ovulate in the next 12 - 36 hours. I'm in the same boat as you - if it takes a few months I may start temping just to confirm I ovulated.... temping only tells you after the fact that you did. but the OPK is good because it tells you (assuming you ovulate normally) you are about to, so you know when to get busy. temping seems like too much of a commitment right now (and DH would look at me like i have 20 heads) but I've heard it's the best way to confirm O'ing.
