I wish!  If only DH made more money!  I do get a cleaning person about 3-4 times a year for a "treat". Come to think of it, I need to treat myself again soon!

I just let mine go. I had them during my pregnancy but also worked more hours. I am not a full SAHM, work 2 days a week. I see your point and if finances aren't an issue, then go for it. I gave mine up to have a landscaper for DH.........such a nice wife!!

I had a cleaning service every two weeks during my pregnancy, because I was exhausted and working long hours in NYC. I had never had a cleaning service before and really liked it! Now that I'm a SAHM, I just reduced it to once a month. It's really worth it because they do a great cleaning, and I just maintain it by doing light cleaning every week in between.

I have a cleaning person who comes 2x a month or when Im having company. Its so much better that I dont have to worry about cleaning and I have more time for the kids!! Tell your husband that he can come home and clean if he doesnt want to pay someone

Um...DH is at home right now (unemployed and waiting to be a SAHD) and the cleaning person comes 1x week....

I get my cleaning girl once a month. Thats all I really need her for just one BIG cleaning, then DH and I do the little stuff around the house.

HAHA Thats a good idea! Its so funny b/c he is far from cheap and we can afford it.. He just dosen't see the need - you know b/c his mother never needed one 
Meanwhile we have a brand new lawnmower we bought last year yet we still pay a landscaper b/c he works so much and when he is home he is to lazy to do it!
No offense to your hubby, but hubbies in general need to realize HOW MUCH work a SAHM has!   I ask my hubby all the time, why is it that when he is home with the kids, NOTHING (or close to nothing) else gets done, other than him playing with the kids all day, AND he's usually exhausted and ready for me to walk back in the door. But when Im home with them, somehow, cooking, cleaning and laundry get done? If I leave him a list of what I would do in that amount of time (what I would LOVE done (if he can pick up where I left off), usually one or maybe 2 of 4-5 items will get done. and its usually pretty simple chores that can get done while he watches the kids.
Also, my thing is, why does HIS life get to be made easier (landscaper, paying for various house projects to be done) and mine isnt? (cleaning lady?  )
So after all my rambling, he really doesnt argue the point with me, he wouldnt even dare question that the job of a SAHM is a tough one, he knows how much work it is (and that he could never do it )
Ive been thinking about hiring a cleaning lady, definately when I give birth to #3 (in 7wks) maybe sooner, but its more me than him thats the reason for the procrastinating. I feel like I have to prepare and organize stuff still beforehand.
Its DEFINATELY worth the money. and im glad its not an argument between us, he's much more of a spender than I am to begin with, so the money wouldnt even phase him.
I just have to get rolling and JUST DO IT.
ETA: I know its worth it, just by seeing my sister who's a SAHM to 4 little ones, ages 8m to 7yrs, plus she works from home, its SOOOO worth it to her to have a cleaning lady twice a month.

I have just become a SAHM of sorts (work one day a week) and have a cleaning lady every other week and I just maintain. Honestly, my son is too crazy active - I would never get cleaning done well with him right now. So worth it.

Here is what I did. I put an ad in the local pennysaver newspaper looking for a cleaning lady 4-6 hours per week. I pay $10 an hour and have my lady 2x's PER WEEK. I have her work on different areas each time so it all gets done.

I am seriously considering someone come do a big clean 1x a month. I just cannot keep on top of the dust, for someone to even just do the floors and dusting would be HUGE for me.
I'm a SAHM but also work from home so maybe I don't count.

Yes. I have someone come in every 2 weeks. I told my DH this was something that was not negotiable. I do work 2 nights a week though but she still came for the 6 months I wasn't working.
To me taking care of a baby is work and I would rather spend time with her than cleaning a house.
