anyone buy furniture from Crate and Barrel???

I am looking at dining table and possible sideboard. I was wondering about the quality. It says that it is solid mango wood.

I have a lot of furniture from there, I also used to work there part time as a second job. They have 2 "kinds" of furniture. Anything that requires assembly is their affordable lower quality stuff. It's not bad by any means. I have a lot of it and it's held up really well, just know that most of that stuff is MDF, not solid wood.

The solid wood items from their Furniture collection is high quality stuff, well made and well worth the price. I was only ever to afford (when I was working part time and living alone) one piece from there and it was a floor sample coffee table. It's still my favorite piece of furniture, has made it through 3 moves and 6 years and not a scratch.

I bought the hunter trunk in february. I love the trunk and probably would buy it again, however I am a little disappointed. I noticed some scratches (which could be my fault); however what bothers me the most is that the hardware started to rust. I looked at the paperwork that they gave with the purchase and it says that if it rusts I need to sand it and apply beeswax. I'm just annoyed that I paid 500 for the trunk and its rusting already, but yes I would buy it again because I do love it.

Yes I have assembly required stuff and its not better than Ikea for the price...

Just a bookshelf. It's very pretty, but it was assembly required. The quality is no different from Ikea, but the price was.

I have a metal end table from Crate and Barrel. I love it, but learned don't put the baby safety foam on it because I cannot get the glue off. ETA: My front entry bench is also from them. I love it and get lots of complements on it. It is all wood, but we still had to put it together.

for the poster above - often acetone will get the glue off of metal (try a hidden spot first to make sure it doesn't damage the finish....)

we have a buffet (we assembled) I can tell that's it's not high quality, but it's better than our IKEA items.

I'll be honest, I looked here for a table and ended up going with Canadel instead...custom made and cheaper than when you buy table and chairs there-got a cabinet at PB that's well made

i bought 2 pieces there that i love. one was assembled and the other was self-assembly. one thing i really like about C&B is the reviews on their website from people who bought the furniture. there was a table i fell in love with at the showroom, and when i read the reviews they consistently complained that it gets stains and rings at the drop of a hat and you basically have to keep it covered with a table cloth all the time, which doesn't work for people who plan on having small children around, ya know? it was very helpful because i otherwise couldn't have know until after i bought it.

i also recommend going to the actual showroom as opposed to judging by web pics. i remember having things in mind that struck me as really different in-person, and i fell in love with pieces i hadn't even looked twice at on the web. it's also a much better way to gauge size.
