Ideas please
My half bathroom has cedar (?) walls and matching cabinetry. We have an ivory sink, ivory toliet and our washer and dryer is in there, they are white.
I am trying to decide whether to paint the cabinets white and the panels ivory... does anyone have any suggestions? I don't think I want to go darker because the walls are already toned...I also do not want to paint walls. I do love them.

I agree with you. I like the walls. It's not like they are cheesy panelling. As long as they are in good shape leave them, but it is too much with the wood cabinets.
I think I might paint the cabients ivory though. By panels, do you mean the inset parts of the doors?
I might do those white, so white will just be an acent color to tie in the W/D, since everything else is ivory.
Just make sure your white & ivory paints are distinguishable from each other.

That is what I was thinking. I love the walls and they are in great condition. I am just so bored with the cabinets. When you walk in, to the right is a larger version of the cabinet too. By the panels I do mean the inserts. I wasn't sure if I would just paint the entire panel white or just the trim of the panel.. hope that makes sense.

Thanks ! I am more so thinking of painting it two toned for more of a detail/depth to it.

I would do that as well and I would also get hospital type ceiling tracks and hang curtains from them.. It'll hide the washer/dryer and give the appearance of there being a tub/shower there instead.

Totally makes sense. But it's a downstairs bathroom, with no bedrooms. For some reason it urks me to have a tub down there lol. It could be an option to do so since there is a hook up... side tracked sorry hahaha.

I have been in a couple houses where this was done- it looks like a shower is there because of the shower curtain, but the washer and dryer is there. Based on the space, I wonder if you'd even have to go to the ceiling- a regular shower curatain/tension rod might do it.

I'd paint the cabinets white, i'm not a fan of ivory though... the white will go fine with the toilet and sink.
I'd also do fun patterned colorful curtain panels on that window, some light colored towels and artwork for the left side.

I agree but I was concerned that a shower curtain and tension rod would constantly be falling from being opened a closed.

i wouldnt paint the walls white/ivory I think then everything will be too white. I think painting the cabinets is a nice idea

they could mount a rod like a rod is mounted in a closet (for example) so it is more perminent and not falling

Thanks everyone. I am thinking of what to do. I just know I want a change but not sure what to do. If I paint the cabinets there is no turning back.
I've been wanting to change out all of the verticals, but it's just not in budget right now. They don't bother me too much, right now that is.
Guess we'll see what happens. I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks for taking time to give advice

True, but you can always paint it a different color.
If you put a curtain in front of the washer & dryer, wouldn't you block all the light from the window? I guess if you have an overhead, it's not that big of a deal. I have seen bathrooms where the only window is in the shower.

Yes I would block the window. I don't think I will do that, I've grown up in this house so I am used to the washer/dryer lol.
It doesn't bother me all that much. If it did we would have to relocate them altogether.
