Luteal phase?
So we are going to TTC in a cple months and I am just starting to learn.
I read a post and someone said they had a short luteal phase...
How do you know if you have a short LP?
I have a regular cycle, every 27th day I get AF.
Can you have a short LP w/a regular cycle? How do you figure out how long your LP is?
Clueless about this sorry if I sound like a dope
TY

Re: Lutenal phase?
It's called the luteal phase and it's the time between when you ovulated and when your period starts. Doctors like to see a LP of at least 12 days. Anything under 10 days and you run the risk of your body not being able to sustain a pregnancy. I had a 10 day LP for 2 cycles and was put on Clomid to lengthen my cycle. It went up to 12 days then 14 days. If you use OPK's once you get your smiley or + you will generally ovulate within the next 24-36 hrs. The day after you ovulate is 1DPO. Count the days from then on until AF arrives and that will tell you the length of your LP. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much this was so helpful
So according to my calendar I have a 13 day LP. I think I may take an OPK this month (not ttc until Jan) just to see if this is accurate.

Definitely a good plan. Not sure what kind of calendar you're using. IMO an OPK will give you a better idea than an online calendar that's essentially guessing your O date.

Thanks Rachel...I know I am probably getting ahead of myself since we aren't trying for a few months but I am crazy and feel like I want to be as prepared as I can be
