I've seen those..but I honestly need support for my ankles! (And I find them ugly!)

Re: FiveFingers for Running
My co-worker wears them. He was having issues with his shins so decided to switch over. Needless to say, his shin no longer hurts, but his knees have been bothering him.
If you are planning on using them, break them in very slowly. Do not expect to be able to run your current mileage right away.

DH has them and he runs in them - its good for off trail runs. He likes them a lot.
I have the Mary Jane ones which don't have as much support - I like them because my toes hurt after Zumba - they are wild!!! I love them!

Couldn't fit my foot in them. I have bad bunions and they just wouldn't even allow my foot to go in.

They look like they wouldn't provide enough shock absorption... I think my back & knees would hurt afterward... but I've never tried them so I can't really say, although I saw something just this morning running in them! I've heard good things.

Re: FiveFingers for Running
there so many studies that are tlking about the benefits of barefoot running, but I have plantar fasciitis and I am scared to even try.
I do always think I should take my DS and run in the field behind our house barefoot and see how it goes.
I saw a guy running barefoot in a marathon, but I'm not sure he trained to run barefoot (it was closed to Halloween and he was dressed as a Native American). In the beginning he said he was hoping to run a 3:40, we saw him finally come in at 4:20!

My same co-worker who wears the Five Fingers has also been known to run barefoot.

Re: FiveFingers for Running
My DH has them... he uses them for working out... which includes running...
He also quotes many studies that state that barefoot running is beneficial for strengthening your feet, ankles, legs.. etc.. and that we were meant to run barefoot..
He has the Vibrams.. loves them!

Re: FiveFingers for Running
I'd like to eventually get a pair. After years of wearing Saucony stability shoes I was afraid to go straight to the vibrams so I recently got a pair of the Nike Free Run shoes to kind of slowly transition myself. I really love them and now my Saucony's feel like running with bricks on my feet. Although I think I may have done a little too much too fast in them because this morning I ran 8 miles and started getting pain in the arch of my right foot that I've never had before. I think I might have to keep the saucony's in the rotation for a bit and hope the pain goes away.
