Spinoff to thriftstore shopping
Are there any really good ones on Long Island? I've been to the Salvation Army (I think...) in West Babylon.
Any others you'd recommend?

There used to be one in the Lynbrook/RVC area right off of Sunrise Hwy (south). I used to work over there and would walk by and see high-end designer stuff in the window. I don't knwo the name of the store or what street it was located on though... so I'm not much help.

Re: Spinoff to thriftstore shopping
I went to one in Rosyln once. High end stuff. Scored a brand new LV Epi bag (small evening bag) for 80 bucks.
Got ripped off at another one in Glen Cove, fake bag. Junkie stuff.

I went into a Savers for the first time yesterday. It was very nice, clean and well organized. I would definitely buy things there.

Re: Spinoff to thriftstore shopping
I live in Hampton Bays, the east end has ton of thrift and consignment stores. They are usually run by hospitals, churches or other charities. They also have a few high end, designer only, ones. But they are not charities so the prices are still high, whereas if a hospital thrift shop got a designer piece it is still reasonable. Here's an example of the designer consignment http://www.colletteconsignment.com/
