When to start prenatal vitamins?
DH and I are TTC the beginning of Dec. The plan is I will go off BCP Sept. 1 then start prenatal vitamins for 3mths and start TTC beginning of Dec. My Dr. told me (couple of months ago when I went in for reg. exam) that when we decide we want to TTC I should go on prenatal vitamins 3mths prior to trying. Is this what you girls are doing/did?

i would take them asap it doesnt hurt - i started mine right away after going off bcp
get the target brand they are $4something for 200!!!

No harm in starting them as early as possible. Taking a daily multivitamin is good for your health anyway!

a regular multivitamin is fine as long as you are getting plenty of folic acid

You can take them as early as you like. I started taking mine as soon as I came off of BC. I got preggo 2 months later.
Vitamins are good for you either way, so there is absolutely no harm in taking them early!
Your hair and nails will look great!!!!!

This is my first month TTCing and I just went to CVS today and bought prenatal vitamins. But I def think it can't hurt to take them as soon as possible.
What brand are you going to use? I bought the CVS brand bc One A Day is so

I think I got a pretty good deal on the vitamins I have. They are the Rite Aid brand 200 count for $9.68 (incl. ship) I purchased them on drugstore.com but if you go to Rite Aid they cost about $15 bucks.

yup - i was taking one a day and they are super expensive
when i ran out i bought the bottle to target and the target brand has the same stuff in it

With my first I started prenatals about 3 months before we TTC.
This time I just started taking Folic Acid when we were TTC until I got BFP.

i use the target brand. i don't take them religiously, but i try to take them every day. i didn't take any vitamins prior to prenatals, so i figured any little bit helped.

I was told six months in advance we probably will try in December and gyno prescribed me them to me now.

I've been on a women's one-a-day multivitamin that has 100% daily req of folic acid. I think when I fun out in about a month I will switch to pre-natals... even though I'm not going off the pill until Jan

I went off mine 5 motnhs ago after being on them about 10 years i finally feel that now my cycles are getting close to normal. They were a bit erratic these past months...which im thinking might have been interfering. If i could go back i def. would have gone off sooner just to give my body extra time to regulate and get back on track.

i went to my doc in april and told her we wanted to start to TTC in july and she told me to start taking them right away. She gave me samples and then prescriptions for a prenatal and a seperate folic acid, been taking them since.
