Can granite be cut and salvaged?

We are considering a kitchen extension but we really just finished doing our kitchen 2 yrs ago. Right now it's tight, and I want to push the wall back, but the layout is in a corner. Was thinking of basically getting the corner kitchen sink cut out (making it a reg sink) and going back a few feet. Does that make sense? Can they cut out my sink and add granite to extend my workspace?
