How will you surprise family/friends?

Im just wondering..I know some of us plan (or have already) surprised DH in a special way about you being pregnant, but what about friends are family? Did/Do you plan on just saying, "hey, guess what? Im pregnant" or do you plan on telling them in a special way?

last time i got a BFP i bought a "grandmas rock" onesie for my mom, and a yankees onesie for my dad. i was going to give them as gifts at our birthday dinner. but i found out before the dinner that i was going to miscarry so i never got to give them.
they know we are trying and that i have a lot of issues. so when i do get a BFP again it will be hard not to tell them. im not sure if i will wait for a few betas before telling, or tell them right away. i still might do the onesie thing, not sure.
either way its not going to be the most surprising thing to either of them!!

Next weekend is my parent's wedding anniversary. We invited my in-laws to come out to dinner with my parents (and my brother & sister-in-law). My parents and in-laws are friendly with each other so it wouldn't be strange that they celebrated with us. Then after dinner DH and I will have invited everyone back to our house for dessert. We'll bring out the cake (which we bought ahead of time) and on the cake will say Baby _____ (insert last name) arriving April 2011.

I think that should really surprise them! Just hope I can keep it a secret until next weekend.....I'm awful at keeping my own personal things a secret! lol

With our first we invited my parents and my inlaws over for dinner and had our female dog in a shirt that said "I'm going to be a big sister". We told them that Peanut had a special message and they needed to read her shirt.

This time I am buying our DC#1 a shirt that says "I have a secret, I'm going to be a big brother/sister"

But we aren't going to do a combo of all the parents together. We will do it separately.

that is a GREAT idea! what a fantastic anniversary surprise! i love that youre able to do it together with all the grandparents and family

I had all of these great aspirations to surprise DH. I was thinking of getting a cute onsie and a dad related book, but I was so happy and anxious that I just blurted it. He was on call and I feel bad because he couldn't have a reaction at all.

We are surprising his parents because they live out of state with a box of gifts from a recent trip and a card that says something along the lines of hope you like these little presents, but the most exciting one won't be here till april! congratulations grandparents. Something equally as cheezy.

I didn't surprise my mom in any sort of cute way. I just blurted it out. She's the only one that knows right now. Although, I'm pretty sure she'll tell my dad in a moment of weakness.

Clearly, I have an issue with just blurting things out right away.

im not sure how we will tell our families...but i do know how i am telling my best friend.

she just moved to cali, and i told her that when i get PG i am going to text her a picture of a bun in my oven. BUT, i am going to fly out to Cali with my other bff (good excuse for a small vacay) and have her FH take a pic of a bun in her oven, send it to me and I will send it to her with a message that says, open your door. and we will be outside!
