Would you rather?

a gift from your bridal registry or something different to go with what you have?

My friend got an ince cream maker from her registry - I saw cute ice cream bowls I can get her OR she asked for an ice cream scoop from her registry (its just more expensive then what I was going to spend). WDYT?

Not sure where to post this, thought Home b/c its sorta related.

Though I love the idea of the bowls, I would always go with the item on the registry first.

I would like either. Some of my favorite gifts were things that were not on my registry

i liked a lot of gifts that were not from the registry but some gifts, while i still appreciated the gift.. didnt match my decor or i just simply didnt need them.

i would stick to the registry.

If you're asking personally - I would like the bowls. They're ice cream bowls - they don't have to match decor, you know?

Then again I only registered b/c I "had" to.

I much, much, much prefer thoughtful gifts.

I was trying to find it with no avail but I saw an ice cream dish set that had 4 bowls (looked like waffle bowls) and then a caddy that held all the different toppings. It was freaking adorable.

FTR - I have ice cream bowls and DH and I actually use them.

eta: then I would get a cute/whimsical ice cream scoop as well.

I would usually will do a toss-in gift like this WITH the ice cream maker. For example, I got my BFF a Keurig for her shower and then threw in some monogrammed mugs that weren't on her registry.

If its just a gift on its own, I would probably stick to the registry. But if not, make sure you enclose a gift receipt!!!!

best gift I got was nit on my registry. I would go with the bowls.
