Homeowner's insurance, who do you use?
We're considered a flood zone, we're right across the street from the water....and I know it's so hard in general to get insurance as it is, and this is making it that much worse.
We're in nassau!

We use State Farm - Victoria VanDeVen in Seaford on Merrick Road. We have homeowners, flood, umbrella and auto through them.

I agree. We use State Form for everything and they are an LIF vendor as well.

Your best bet is to go through a broker... you are going to have to get special insurance b/c u are so close to the water and a lot of compaines will not write your homeowners. The broker will also help you get flood insurance. Unfortunatly flood insurance can be even more expensive then your actual homeowners insurance.

We just got new homeowners at the end of 2009. FYI, most of the big carriers (Liberty, Allstate, etc) are not writing new policies in Nassau County. We went with State Farm (Diane McGrath in RVC). We made a claim in March when a tree fell on the house during that crazy storm. We had a great experience and had a check from them within a month.

Liberty Mutual. We're in a flood zone. We also have our auto with them, not sure if that makes them more likely to keep us as a customer or not.
