Who actually waited to tell?

Just curious...how many of you who got a BFP waited the 12 week period to tell family and friends that you were pregnant or did you tell your family as soon as you found out?

Re: Who actually waited to tell?

Told DH immediately as soon as I POAS (duh).

Told my bff and my dad at 6 w as soon as the blood test confirmed.

Told my mom at 7 w.

Told my grandfather, aunts, and brother at 8 w as soon as we heard the heartbeat and the OB said we could tell the world if we wanted.

Told close friends in person and a few on the phone from about 9 - 10 w on.

Posted on FB for the rest of the world at 14 w.

Does that count as waiting?

Re: Who actually waited to tell?

With dd#1 we told our parents at 12 weeks and everyone else at 15 weeks.

With dd#2 we told our parents at about 10 weeks and told everyone else at 12 weeks at dd#1's first birthday party.

Re: Who actually waited to tell?

We told family and close friends at 6 weeks. At the time I was working and our busiest season was approaching so I told my boss and coworkers at 10 weeks.

This time around we will probably tell family and close friends at 6 weeks. And the rest of the world will find out as we see them.

Re: Who actually waited to tell?

-DH was there when I POAS

-I told my sister the day after I POAS

-We told DH's mom and my Dad at 5.5 weeks after it was confrimed through bloodtests (wanted to make sure the numbers were going up)

-I am 6 weeks and those are the only people we have told. I am going to try to wait until at least 10 weeks to tell other family and close friends. Then I will let everyone else (the FB world) know after 12 weeks.

Re: Who actually waited to tell?

Thanks ladies. I was just thinking about this and I dont think I could keep it a secret from my immediate family. I think I would tell them as soon as I got a BFP but then I hear that thats bad luck. Is that true?

Re: Who actually waited to tell?

Waited an hour to tell DH (but only because I tested at 545 am!)

Told our bff's after the first appt

Told our parents/siblings after the 2nd appt (where we saw the heartbeat) at about 9 weeks

Told the rest of the family (cousins, aunts, uncles, etc) after 13 weeks

Announced on FB at 17 weeks

eta: we told our friends before our families b/c I wanted to tell them on mother's day. We put a sono pic in a card - and their reactions were priceless!

Re: Who actually waited to tell?

When I got pregnant with my DD we told our parents and siblings the same day we got our first BFP even though it was soooo faint. We also told out very close friends right away. We told immediate family at 9 weeks and co-workers at 12 weeks. There was NO way I could hold out for 12 weeks!!! Chat Icon

Re: Who actually waited to tell?

- I waited 1 day to tell DH

- We waited 2 weeks after BFP to tell our parents and sibling (so I was about 6 weeks)

- We haven't told anyone else yet. We just saw the heartbeat for the first time yesterday at 7w5d. My birthday is in 2 weeks and I think we may end up telling my extended family - aunts, uncles, etc. - then. We will also probably tell close friends then. I'd like to wait a while until telling everyone else, like 20 weeks. I don't know if I'll be able to plus DH is DYING to tell everyone he knows Chat Icon

Re: Who actually waited to tell?

We told our family between 8-10 weeks (parents first, siblings later)
Then we waited until 12 weeks to tell everyone else.

I think I was like 6 months along before DH told people at work!Chat Icon

I wanted to wait because we werent ttc when we got our BFP so I felt like it couldn't be this easy for us when I knew other people having problems getting pregnant, so I wanted to wait until we were further along!

Re: Who actually waited to tell?

We were going to wait but since it took me 10 months to concieve I couldn't keep it in and we told close family & friends.. Not all family or friends know yet though.. I'm 5 weeks.. I think after I have my 6week sono and see a heartbeat then I'll tell the rest..

Re: Who actually waited to tell?

I told DH and parents right away. Then close family and friends a few days weeks later. Unfortunately I had a M/C so I will NEVER tell people again that early, except DH. We are not planning on telling our parents until a few weeks and NO ONE else until 2nd trimester.

My advice would be not to tell anyone except DH and parents. I am very very very private with people IRL so I am very upset that so many people knew about M/C.
