My first 5K is tomorrow. . .& um (updated)
I didn't finish C25K. . .I'm on week 7. Am I going to be able to do this???? I'm nervous now.
(side note- anyone else doing the Marcum workplace challenge?)
Didn't do super but didn't pass out either. I ran the whole first 2 miles in 24 minutes (so 12 minute miles, although I probably didn't start running until 2 minutes in b/c of the crowds). . .then the last 1.5 mile. ..holy hell I walked, then ran, walked, then ran . . etc I ended at 43 minutes. Not great but I ran the first 2 miles and I'm at least proud of that. I've never run a 5k so this was good practice!

Definitely! You will feel the energy from everyone and your adrenaline will kick in and you will be able to run the entire thing. Have fun!

First of all- you can do it!! Even if you have to, do a slow jog/brisk walk for some of it!
And yes, I'm doing the Marcum Workplace Challenge! My father (an avid runner) works for Curtiss Wright and signed us up.
Just so you know, the workplace challenge is actually longer than a 5k, its 3.5 miles- so make sure you pace yourself accordingly!
Best of luck to you!

Definitely! Just try not to get caught up with the crowd and try to go at a pace you are comfortable with and you will do great!
Enjoy!

Hi Devon - I am sure you can do it!
I feel I would be remiss though if I didn't warn you that the Marcum race is actually 3.5 miles, whereas a 5K is 3.1 miles. However it's a HUGE crowd and a flat course so the difference is negligible. There are so many people who walk it too that you will feel great running past a ton of people!
Edited to say I just realized Colleen said the same thing!! I should read all the way through next time!
I'll be there - part of the Marcum group (my brother and good family friend work there).

As others have said, I think you will do great. Just make sure that you line up towards the back and don't go out too fast!
good luck everyone!

I will be there!!! Don't worry you'll be ok and if you need to stop and walk then stop and walk.
Its a walk/run race anyway.

You can do it! If you have to stop and walk for a bit here and there, that's fine. It's your first race. You're going to finish, and you're going to finish ahead of a lot of other people there. Enjoy!
ETA: a good friend of mine is a marathon runner, a really serious runner, and her best 5K time ever was one in which she took 2 walking breaks. So even really serious, hard-core runners take it easy every now and then. Nothing to worry about!
