MIL VENT
Sorry... it's long, but I"m TICKED.
My MIL is in town, from Israel, for about 10 days, to help us out with the new house. We closed on Wednesday and started demolition, and we're on a really short time-frame for getting the renovations all done. The idea was for the MIL to come for 10 days and help watch Alex while DH and I got a lot of rehabbing done.
Well, she's been here 5 days and I'm ready to kill her! She hasn't helped one IOTA. She leaves all her crap around the house, dirty dishes, etc, so most of my time is spent cleaning up after her. And as for watching Alex? A whopping total of about 1 hour so far.
We were just working on the house and Alex woke up from a nap so of course, I had to go pick her up and entertain her. I got so fed up I just came back home and told DH he's on his own with MIL for the weekend. If I had known she wouldn't be of any help, I would have hired a babysitter to help out! So, now, she and DH are at the new house while DH guts the kitchen, she watches. Tell me, what do you think is a better use of time? For the 67 year old to stand and watch or for the 31 year old who has done this before and knows what she's doing to work on the house while the 67 year old watches the baby????? It's not brain surgery 
Oh and to add, I just LOVE how MIL tells me I'm doing everything wrong, from the wrong paint colors, the wrong kitchen design, Alex is too cold, Alex is too hot, she needs a longer nap... you think she needs a longer nap??? THen get off your lazy bum and put her to sleep yourself!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

OMG can you have DH talk to her and wake her up Seriously - what do you need another person around for if they're just going to make more of a mess for you. Didn't she know why she was coming over? Or did she think it was just a vacation? I'm sorry - she sounds like a real PITA, I hope DH fixes the situation quick!

That's the most frustrating part - SHE was the one who called us and suggested she fly over the first week of rehabbing so she could watch Alex while we worked! So, now, DH just came home and told me he needs me at the house so we can make some decisions before me moves forward with some of the renovations. No sh!t sherlock... you JUST thought of that? Dingleberries.

I am so sorry your going through this you would think being that she lives out of the country that she would want to spend al lthe time she can with her grandchild I hope things get better
