Need Flatscreen TV help
Want to get my DH one for his bday have no idea what to get, plasma, LCD LED? Whats the best brands to look for?

I have heard from multiple stores Samsung is the best, we just purchased a 32in Samsung 720p LCD and LOVE it for our bedroom.

we have a 32" sony bravia in the bedroom, and a 52" Samsung in the livingroom. We love them both.

I have a Samsung LCD and we looooove it  Just make sure you get the correct wires for it b/c it makes a world of a difference.

I have a plasma and a LCD. I would never get another plasma again. We had to install a fan in our den because it throws off so much heat. Plasmas can also get burn in if you keep the image up on the screen too long. Samsung LCD all the way

This infomation is not correct.
The term you are referring to is image retention which goes away after you change the image that is static such as a ticker or a sport score in the corner.
As temrs as what to buy, each type of tv has its features.
Yes, plasmas do generate more heat. Install a fan to move the heat, well, you may of had it in a cabinet or something. LED is actually LCD with LED backlights to make the image better and uses less energy. Price is still up there. Plasma is the most cost effeictive. As far as "the best" its hard to say. THe majority of parts for these tv's are made in the same place. companies will swap out some parts to make it there own and cheapier. If you stick with a name brand such as sharp, samsung and sony, you will be good.

My plasma is hanging on my den wall.....no cabinet. My LCD was half the price of my plasma with a better picture, same size tv (both Samsung)....thanks for the info

If you are putting the tv in a room with a lot of natural light, probably a good idea to stay away from plasma. They have glass screens that can cause a lot of glare.
We have a skylight and sliding glass doors in our living room, so we got a the LG LED tv and love it.
We were between that and the Samsung (which was more expensive). After DH spent weeks trying to see which was better, we decided we couldn't tell the difference between the two and went with the LG.
