Massage Question
I currently am trying to conceive with my husband. There's a very good chance that I am pregnant now, but my next period isn't due until next Thursday. I have a swedish massage scheduled for tomorrow afternoon, but wasn't sure if it was safe to have it done in the event that I am pregnant.
Any words of advice?

I don't really know the medical answer to this but i might call the provider and ask. . they should know
I know in general swedish is fine throughout pregnancy (except for a few trigger points and feet especially bc certain points can trigger labor later on)

Supposedly it is not medically welcomed to get a massage within your first trimester.
I had a swedish massage done when I was about to ovulate - then got pregnant with DC #1. They say massages can improve fertility.
Then at 16 weeks pregnant I wanted a prenatal massage. Most places I called would only take me with a dr.s not.
If there is a chance you are pregnant I would postpone the appointment. JMHO

I think you are fine. Indulge yourself!
Technically you are not supposed to get a massage during your first trimester but you have not even confirmed your pregnancy yet.
When I was pregnant with DS#1, I didn't know yet and I went waterfall repelling and ziplining in Costa Rica. I'm sure that isn't recommended for the first trimester either.

Thanks for those who responded. I opted to not get the massage but if AF comes next week you bet I will be all over getting a massage (although I'd rather AF not come of course!) lol

You are officially NOT PG until you are. So got get your massage. Just make sure you don't get any abdomen work done at all on you and no reflexology or "points". That should cover all the basis.
They can't tell you they can't massage you because you are not officially PG so they can't tell you not to do it in your 1st trimester.
Yes, you can get massages in your 1st trimester. Most LMT/spas do not do it due to liability.

this isnt true. i told a masseuse at a very reputable salon that i was TTC and in the 2WW and they absolutely refused to massage me, even though i signed a waiver.

Well, she did not do it because she did not want to or was told not to do it. And her own comfort level. But if you are 2WW, you are officially STILL NOT PG. A lot of LMT are "afraid" of 1st trimester because 1/ their place of business will not allow massages in the 1st trimester (again, you have to be officially PG to be PG). 2/ It has to do with their training. They really have been told not to do it. Mostly due to fear of the "unknown". 3/ A lot of "trained" LMT really don't know about pregnancy. They merely adapt swedish to a PG client.
As an FYI, LMTs doing prenatal massages don't have the same level of knowledge on the topic. In short let's say, the training can go anywhere from 1 day (for Credit Education) to full certification with much more level of understanding on the topic.
Unfortunatelly, most clients don't know that.
