Sonogram tomorrow - question
I have a sonogram scheduled for tomorrow as part of my workup for why I only get AF every 2 or 3 months.
I have a question: I got a  OPK yesterday evening, so I should O either today or tomorrow if I'm going to at all. Last time I got a , I did not O afterwards (didn't get AF for 48 days  ). I would LOVE to know if this one was for real. Will they be able to pick it up on the sono, if it's within 24 hours of O?

Oh, and one more thing - since we  this morning, I guess it's an eensy bit possible that I could have conceived... the internal sonogram wouldn't hurt anything, right?

no the sono wont hurt anything. if you conceived in the last 24 hours the egg is still floating around and hasnt reached the uterus for implantation. the sono wont even really be near it. you have to figure that if it doesnt hurt a growing embryo/baby, its FINE for a not-yet-implanted blastocyte
 .
as for the sono picking up O, im not 100% sure. i do know they will be able to tell the size of your follies, so from that they can tell if you are near O. but i think only bloodwork will confirm if you are about to O/have just Oed. are you doing bloodwork? it def sounds like you should have your LH looked at, esp. if you get +OPKs that arent followed by O.

At my sonos in the past, they've been able to tell how thick my lining is but not much else. Well, and see if there were cysts (sometimes yes, sometimes no).

Thank you both! I had bloodwork done 2 weeks ago and apparently my LH/FSH levels were normal. I don't know what is making me so irregular or why I didn't O last month after my smiley; hopefully the sono will shed some light on the situation.
I'm a little nervous!

Don't know much about the sonos. I had one done last Fall to check my lining for cysts as well. I do remember the doctor showing me my ovaries on the screen though. I agree with the PP about a potential fertilized egg being safe.

When I went for my sono they were able to tell me that I recently ovulated! Hopefully the tech can confirm your smiley you got the other day!!

They will be able to see the size of your follies and those measurements will tell them if it looks like you will "O". If you're having blood drawn too they will be able to tell based on your hormone levels if it looks like you will "O". However, only follow-up blood work can tell you for sure if you did in fact release your egg and ovulate. Good luck!

Still haven't had my temperature surge, 2 days after my + OPK... So either I'll ovulate this morning (48 hours after the smiley) or not at all. I hope the sono lets me know SOMETHING. I'll let you guys know.

at my first internal they were able to tell me which ovary the egg came from. they may be able to tell you if you ovulated. i would talk to the doc/tech doing the internal about all of your concerns before they begin.
