Jersey girls, a question?
What are some good towns with good school districts that don't have an awful commute to the city!

My Bff recently bought in Ridgewood,NJ. There is a train right in town with a good commute to NYC, not sure exactly how long but I would guess 45min. Driving (depending on traffic on GW/Bronx of course) it is only 15 minutes once over the GW.
Great schools, beautiful town and area

Maplewood, Millburn, Short Hills, South Orange.
30 minute commute via NJTransit.
Of course, this is area I live in! 
Also, Chatam, Madison, Summit area. Pretty much same commute. These are actually all on the same train line.

was going to mention all these as well... Of course there is always Hoboken where your commute is a subway ride!!

We just moved to Bergen county. You really can't go wrong with many of the towns here and it's right outside the city. Most of the towns have their own train stop or you can commute by bus. DH takes the bus because it is express (taking the train you have to switch in Secaucus). So he gets on the bus here and gets out at Port Authority. Door to door it's less than 40 minutes. We live in Waldwick but there's also Ridgewood, Allendale, Ho-ho-kus, Saddle River, Glen Rock and some more I can't think of right now. All great schools in these particular towns and all right off 17, so super close to Paramus for shopping.

Two people I work with live in Aberdeen. They take the Academy bus to work everyday. It's a 40-minute ride.

My DH rented an apt in Chatham when we first met. Gorgeous area, maybe 40 min commute on NJ Transit. Only reason we chose LI over that region is that I wanted to be close to my family.

I agree- I live in this area too and it's very nice and a great commute to the city.
