so who has done intralipids?? **UPDATE**
i am doing them tomorrow or monday through Trinity.
what should i expect? side effects? does it really take 4 hours??
has anyone used Trinity before for this?
thanks!
UPDATE: i have united healthcare and the intralipids and the administration were both covered by my policy . i really didnt think they would be covered, i am so happy!! trinity was great, i highly recommend them. the lady told me that united and aetna tend to be the better ones for covering that treatment. just an FYI for anyone that has to do them.

I had them. It is no big deal. No side effects besides boredom. I had my mom and sister come so they could talk to the nurse and I could relax.

Re: so who has done intralipids??
done and done !
it def wasnt bad at all, felt just like when they take blood at the doctors office. took about 2 hours total.
btw trinity is great. dr. b decided yesterday that i had to do the intralipids this weekend or monday. they called it into trinity yesterday at like 10am and was able to get the nurse and the meds and have it done by 12:30 today!! great service. plus they said it might be covered by my insurance (wont know for sure until monday) but even if it isnt. the entire service and administration is $450, which isnt terrible. plus i really liked the nurse i had, she was very sweet.
anyway it def wasnt that bad, but i am totally glad its over

Re: so who has done intralipids??
Glad it wasn't so bad! I sometimes get headaches from it but I'm so sensitive to meds. I was under the assumption that it would be more out of pocket than 450, did insurance cover anything? For the future, my friend is an RN who is actually starting his own Infusion company, he charges $250 for the Intralipid infusion. FM me if you want his info.

thanks!! i only found out yesterday that i had to do it this weekend, so i didnt have time to try to find someone or schedule anything. i wont know if the insurance will cover it until monday or tuesday, but the lady at Trinity said that United is one of the few that usually covers it. so im . but i had to sign paperwork saying that it if wasnt covered i would pay $450 out of pocket.

I have Oxford (who is owned by United) and they covered mine. Though I used Advanced Care. So, hopefully yours is covered too.

Yes, she can!
If she administers it for me, is there paperwork that needs to be submitted to the office? I know Linda from Dr. B checked on me often and took my bp and made notes....

I would ask dr b. I know he is the ordering dr so he might need something for your chart. Immune sure if he needs those bp notes but there might bs another form? I only get it through trinity so they handle it. I do know that once my iv fell out and I didn't get a full dose and they had to call him because he ordered the treatment.
