Temping help please
Few questions ladies on temping...
1) to tell if i actually O, I have to temp, correct? 2) What change in temp am I looking for to know O is coming?
3) My cycle this month was 42 days. AF came today. When do I start temping and when do I stop?
4) does it have to be the same time everyday?

Re: Temping help please
i'm not sure if my answers are correct since i'm still trying to get a hang of this temping thing but this is what i think:
1) to tell if i actually O, I have to temp, correct? Yes, you will see a shift in temp. and Fertility friend will draw a cover line on your graph to show ovulation date
2) What change in temp am I looking for to know O is coming? temp. will go up by .5 or degrees after O and will continue to stay up for a couple of day
3) My cycle this month was 42 days. AF came today. When do I start temping and when do I stop?I have long cycles anywhere from 34 to 50 days long. I start temping and using OPK's on CD 14.
4) does it have to be the same time everyday? yes that would be ideal, but i usually temp around 7:30-8 depending on when i wake up.

Re: Temping help please
1) to tell if i actually O, I have to temp, correct? Yes - monitoring your CM and using OPK's can tell you that you're about to ovulate, but you can be "about to" ovulate several times in a cycle and your body never goes through with it (this is what happens to me). 2) What change in temp am I looking for to know O is coming? You can't really tell that O is coming through temping alone. Monitoring your CM and using OPK's can tell you that you are about to O, and temping will confirm that it has already happened.
3) My cycle this month was 42 days. AF came today. When do I start temping and when do I stop? You start temping on the first day of your cycle and keep at it every day. If you go to Fertility Friend you can enter your info for free every day and they'll make a graph for you. Or you can plot points on a graph yourself.
4) does it have to be the same time everyday? Yes. Your temperature is supposed to rise about .2 degrees every hour you sleep in. So if you take it at 6 AM weekdays and 9 AM on weekends, it'll look like your temperature went up and that you ovulated, when you didn't.
I started temping in May. It's not a tough commitment - you buy a $10 thermometer and do about one minute of "work" a day for it. The toughest part is remembering to set your alarm to wake up early on the weekends!
